What happens if there is too much pelvic fluid?

Pelvic effusion is a common disease in women. There are two main types: physiological and pathological. Generally, physiological effusion is less common and often occurs during ovulation or early pregnancy. It usually disappears on its own after a while, so there is no need to worry about it. However, pathological pelvic effusion is more troublesome and often causes abdominal pain, lower abdominal distension, increased leucorrhea, and a lot of effusion. So what should we do?

What to do if there is a lot of pelvic fluid

If the pelvic effusion exceeds 10mm, it is pathological pelvic effusion and treatment should be taken immediately, because pelvic effusion means the presence of inflammatory exudate in the pelvis, which can occur after the endometrium becomes inflamed. The slightly viscous fluid exudates from the swollen cells of the endometrial tissue and is gradually formed into a cystic mass when it is wrapped by the surrounding tissue. If not treated in time, it will gradually grow bigger. When it is too big, medicine cannot eliminate it and it will need to be removed surgically.

If there is a lot of pelvic fluid, a posterior fornix puncture can be performed first

Pathological pelvic effusion is mostly pelvic inflammatory disease or endometriosis. The causes of pelvic inflammatory disease are mostly related to the patient's bad hygiene habits, such as having sexual intercourse during menstruation, within one month after delivery, taking a bath within one month after gynecological surgery, etc. Medical-induced infection caused by improper disinfection during artificial abortion and induced labor can also cause pelvic effusion.

It is best to perform a posterior fornix puncture examination to examine the nature of the fluid caused by pelvic inflammation. If there are chronic infection lesions, it may be an inflammation of the gynecological system such as the ovaries and fallopian tubes, or it may be caused by tuberculosis or tumors. To determine the pathogen of pelvic inflammatory disease, special laboratory tests should be performed, and then symptomatic medication should be used. If tuberculosis is suspected, anti-tuberculosis treatment should be given.

But remember, draining the accumulated fluid is a means of examination or symptomatic treatment and should not be done frequently, because simply draining the accumulated fluid will not only fail to cure pelvic effusion, but will also increase the amount of fluid accumulated. Moreover, pelvic inflammatory disease must be treated early, otherwise it will affect fertility.

Pelvic effusion is often treated with medication

For pelvic inflammatory disease, antibiotics are the main treatment for acute pelvic inflammatory disease, including multiple routes of administration such as intravenous infusion, intramuscular injection or oral administration. A broad spectrum of antibiotics should be used in combination with anti-anaerobic drugs, and attention should be paid to the sufficiency of the course of treatment. It can also be combined with traditional Chinese medicine treatment to achieve better results.

Pelvic effusion is often treated surgically

Patients with lumps such as hydrosalpinx or tubo-ovarian cysts can undergo surgical treatment. Patients with small foci of infection and recurrent inflammation are also suitable for surgical treatment. The principle of surgery is to completely cure the disease and avoid the chance of recurrence of residual lesions. Adnexemectomy or salpingectomy is performed. For young women, ovarian function should be preserved as much as possible. The effect of single therapy for chronic pelvic inflammatory disease is poor, and comprehensive treatment is appropriate.

Physical therapy can be used for a lot of pelvic fluid

The benign stimulation of warmth can promote local blood circulation in the pelvic cavity. Improve the nutritional status of tissues and enhance metabolism to facilitate the absorption and disappearance of inflammation. Commonly used ones are shortwave, ultrashort wave, iontophoresis (various drugs such as penicillin, streptomycin, etc. can be added), wax therapy, etc.

Biological therapy is available for pelvic effusion

Pelvic inflammatory disease can be treated with a new generation of biological ion technology. In this technology, the drug concentration, current intensity, power-on time, electrode position, etc. in the ion introduction technology can be adjusted according to the patient's condition. While eliminating inflammation, it combines oral administration, plastering, external use and other means for consolidation treatment to regulate and enhance the body's immunity, effectively improving the thoroughness of the treatment. It has the advantages of being simple, easy to perform, short-term, non-invasive, quick to take effect, and not prone to recurrence.

A lot of pelvic effusion can be treated with traditional Chinese medicine

You can take the traditional Chinese medicine Pelvic Inflammatory Pills for treatment, which has the effects of promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis, unblocking meridians and dispersing stagnation, soothing the liver and regulating qi, clearing away heat and dampness, and promoting diuresis and reducing swelling. It has a good therapeutic effect on both acute and chronic pelvic inflammatory disease. It can promote pelvic blood circulation, reduce pelvic congestion and exudation, relieve adhesions, and promote the disappearance of inflammation, thereby playing a therapeutic role in anti-inflammatory, regulating menstruation, stopping bleeding, relieving pain, and restoring ovarian function, thereby achieving the purpose of treating pelvic inflammatory disease.

Note: During the treatment period, you are prohibited from having sex to prevent reinfection. Also, taking medication during this period is not conducive to conceiving a child because of the high possibility of pelvic inflammatory disease and ectopic pregnancy. Pay more attention to reproductive hygiene and avoid eating spicy food.
