Suddenly I had my period twice a month

Suddenly I had my period twice a month

For girls, menstruation usually comes once a month, but if the physical condition is not good, menstruation may be delayed or advanced. If it only happens once or twice, there's no need to worry. If your menstruation is irregular for a long time, or even occurs twice a month, you should go to the hospital's gynecology department for a check-up to determine the cause of the disease. So, what are the reasons for having two periods in a month?

1. Bleeding during ovulation

If the bleeding occurs in the middle of the menstrual cycle, it may be ovulation bleeding. Due to the rupture of the follicle, the sudden decrease in estrogen causes breakthrough bleeding in the endometrium, which usually stops in about 2 or 3 days. If it only happens occasionally, no treatment is required. If this happens frequently, it is recommended to see a doctor for examination.

2. Caused by cold body

Excessive indulgence in coolness during menstruation can cause the blood vessels in the pelvis to constrict, leading to ovarian dysfunction and subsequent menstrual irregularities, such as less menstrual flow, darker color, sudden menstruation after menstruation has stopped, etc.

3. Recent depression

If you are under stress for a long time, or are depressed, sulking, or in a bad mood for a long time, it will inhibit the function of the pituitary gland, causing ovarian dysfunction, and menstruation will begin to become disordered, causing delayed menstruation, less menstruation, spotting, etc.

4. Taking emergency contraceptive pills

Emergency contraceptive pills can suppress the female endometrium and may cause a delay in a woman's next menstruation. In addition, the use of the pills may cause a temporary increase in the hormone level in the female blood, followed by withdrawal bleeding after the level decreases, which may cause a woman to have two menstruations in one month.

5. Functional uterine bleeding

It usually manifests as irregular menstrual cycles, excessive menstrual flow, irregular menorrhagia, mid-term bleeding, etc. If women of childbearing age often have two periods in a month, it may be considered as corpus luteum dysfunction.

6. It may be inflammation

Some women will experience bleeding after intercourse, which is mostly contact bleeding, usually related to gynecological diseases such as vaginitis, cervicitis, submucosal fibroids, etc. In addition to bleeding, there may also be abdominal pain, itching and other symptoms. If bleeding occurs frequently, you should pay close attention.
