Is it still necessary to have an abortion for threatened miscarriage?

With the increase of life pressure and the aggravation of environmental pollution, the air quality is becoming worse and worse. Not only that, it is also difficult to ensure healthy diet. Being in this environment for a long time can easily increase the possibility of miscarriage, especially threatened miscarriage. Once miscarriage occurs, not only the fetus is in danger, but the pregnant woman's body image is also greatly affected. So, is it necessary to have an abortion in case of threatened miscarriage?

What does threatened miscarriage mean?

Threatened abortion refers to a small amount of vaginal bleeding before 28 weeks of pregnancy, followed by paroxysmal lower abdominal pain or back pain. Pelvic examination shows that the cervix is not dilated, the fetal membranes are intact, no products of pregnancy are expelled, and the size of the uterus is consistent with the gestational age. If symptoms worsen, miscarriage may become inevitable. Termination of pregnancy before 28 weeks is called miscarriage. If the pregnancy ends naturally before 12 weeks, it is called early miscarriage, and if the pregnancy ends naturally between 13 and 27 weeks, it is called late miscarriage.

Is it still necessary to have an abortion for threatened miscarriage?

Threatened miscarriage does not necessarily mean a miscarriage. If the fetus is protected, the pregnancy may continue. If the gestational sac has stopped developing, abortion can be performed to terminate the pregnancy. Therefore, whether abortion is needed depends on the situation.

But if you don’t want the baby anymore, it is recommended to have an abortion. Although threatened miscarriage may disappear on its own, more often the fetus stops flowing or the miscarriage continues and cannot be completely eliminated, and a uterine cleaning is required in the end. If you don't plan to keep this baby, it is recommended to have an abortion directly, and the sooner the better.

Therefore, even if there is a threat of miscarriage, it does not necessarily lead to miscarriage, and the fetus may survive healthily. However, if the fetus cannot be saved or the baby is not wanted, it is recommended to have an abortion to avoid the situation where the abortion is not complete and another uterine curettage operation is required, which will cause further harm to the body.
