Why do I feel nauseous and want to vomit during my period?

Why do I feel nauseous and want to vomit during my period?

Menstruation can be said to be an inevitable pain for almost every girl every month. Because every girl's physique is different, the body's reactions during menstruation will also be different. Some people will feel excruciating pain during menstruation, some will have back pain and diarrhea, some will feel nauseous and want to vomit, but some will have nothing wrong. Dysmenorrhea is normal, but what is the reason for nausea and vomiting during menstruation?

1. What causes nausea and vomiting during menstruation?

Increased levels of prostaglandins in the endometrium and blood are the main mechanism causing dysmenorrhea. A large amount of prostaglandins have an excitatory effect on the uterus, which can cause strong muscle contractions, leading to uterine ischemia and hypoxia and causing severe pain. Similarly, a large amount of prostaglandins entering the blood circulation can cause gastrointestinal muscle contraction, so women with dysmenorrhea may also experience gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.

2. How to relieve dysmenorrhea and vomiting

1. No alcohol

If edema occurs during menstruation, drinking alcohol will aggravate the condition, so female friends should refrain from drinking alcohol during menstruation. In addition, they should maintain a balanced diet and eat less sweet and salty foods, because these foods will make you feel bloated and slow in movement. It is suitable to eat more vegetables, fruits, chicken, fish, and eat more meals as much as possible.

2. Eat less foods containing caffeine

The caffeine contained in coffee, tea and chocolate can make women nervous and may cause discomfort during menstruation. The oil contained in coffee also irritates the small intestine.

3. Stay warm

Keeping the body warm will speed up blood circulation and relax muscles, especially the pelvic area which is spasmodic and congested. You should drink more hot water or place a hot compress bag or hot water bottle on your abdomen.

If the situation does not improve after trying all the above methods, it means that your body is too weak and you should eat something nourishing and replenishing. First of all, you must eat on time and at a fixed time. Three meals a day are essential. Many people have the habit of skipping breakfast. This is a bad habit and must be changed. When eating, you must eat food that is easily digestible and nutritious. Don't eat too fast, eat slowly so that it is better to digest.
