Side effects after breast reconstruction

Side effects after breast reconstruction

In recent years, the incidence of cancer has been very high, especially breast cancer in women. Many people often hear their relatives and friends say that someone has breast cancer. There is only one treatment for breast cancer, which is to remove the breast before the cancer cells spread. If a woman has had her breast removed, she can have a breast prosthesis recreated through breast reconstruction. What are the side effects of breast reconstruction?

In fact, as long as conditions permit, breast reconstruction can be performed after tumor resection. Once the tumor is removed and the breast area is basically stable, we can consider breast reconstruction. Breast reconstruction begins with surgical planning, including the selection of breast reconstruction method, the shape and modeling of the new breast, tissue volume measurement, selection of the best tissue flap transfer, shaping, cosmetic modification and post-operative treatment, etc. Breast reconstruction methods can be divided into two categories: breast prosthesis reconstruction and autologous tissue reconstruction.

1. Are there any side effects of breast reconstruction?

1. Dilator exposure: The implanted dilator is exposed or the dilator capsule leaks, and cannot play the role of dilating the skin;

2. Infection: Pathogenic bacteria invade from the injection device and spread to the surrounding area through the catheter, causing infection at the implantation site of the expander;

3. Postoperative bleeding or hematoma: Insufficient hemostasis during implantation of the expander or poor drainage after surgery can easily lead to hematoma and infection.

4. Skin flap blood circulation disorder: In the middle and late stages of injection, skin flap blood circulation disorder may occur. In severe cases, it may lead to skin flap necrosis and cause failure of breast reconstruction.

5. Breast implant capsular contracture: This is manifested by varying degrees of breast hardening that can even cause abnormal breast appearance. Once breast hardening occurs, surgery is the only effective treatment.

6. Abnormal implant position of breast implant: Common breast implants are located at the upper pole of the breast, the outer side of the breast, and the lower pole of the breast. Occasionally, it occurs on the inner upper part of the breast and usually requires additional surgery.

7. Hematoma: If bleeding is not stopped thoroughly or veins are accidentally injured during surgery, hematoma may easily form at the surgical site, and even bright red blood may flow out. If this happens, the patient must go to a regular hospital as soon as possible for relevant treatment.

2. What are the precautions for breast reconstruction?

1. Before undergoing a failed breast augmentation repair surgery, you should undergo a physical examination to ensure that you are in good health before undergoing a breast augmentation repair surgery.

2. Repair of failed breast augmentation surgery must be performed six months after the failure of the surgery.

3. Do not take anti-inflammatory drugs before failed breast augmentation surgery to avoid heavy bleeding during the operation.

4. When undergoing silicone breast reconstruction, women need to avoid the menstrual period.

5. The issue of selecting breast augmentation implant materials.
