What is the fastest and most effective way to deal with menstrual headaches?

Nowadays, many women often feel pelvic pain during menstruation, and may even experience abdominal pain. This is because menstrual blood is not flowing smoothly and is stuck in the uterus for a long time, causing pelvic bleeding, which causes this pain. However, many women also experience headaches during menstruation. Most headaches are caused by excessive fatigue and the physiological reactions of menstruation.

Menstrual headaches

There are significantly more female headache patients than male ones, and most female headaches are closely related to the menstrual cycle, which is related to the physiological characteristics of women.

Clinically, the pain that women experience before, during, and after menstruation is called menstrual headache.

Menstrual headaches often occur before, during or after menstruation; the headache is characterized by starting from one temporal side and quickly spreading to both sides, with a stabbing or distending pain; each headache lasts for varying periods of time; and the headache worsens when one is in a bad mood. Female headache is closely related to the menstrual cycle, which may be related to changes in the concentration of a female hormone (estradiol) in serum.

Before and after menstruation, women have a lower estradiol concentration in their serum, which causes intracranial and extracranial blood vessels and uterine blood vessels to be more sensitive to certain substances such as serotonin, thereby causing changes in vascular tension and leading to headaches. After the menstrual period, when the concentration of estradiol in the serum gradually increases, the headache symptoms can be relieved. In addition, menstrual headaches often have a familial tendency, which may be related to genetics.

Women will inevitably encounter some unpleasant things at work, and coupled with the greater pressure from all aspects of modern urban life, the brain nerves are often in a state of tension, making menstrual headaches more likely to occur.

To sum up, it is recommended that female friends choose light and fresh food during menstruation; try to eat less or no cheese-rich foods such as milk, ice cream, chocolate and marinated beef to prevent menstrual headaches; alcohol, coffee, cola and tea can cause vasodilation and should be avoided as much as possible. When menstrual headaches are severe, you can take antipyretic and analgesic drugs under the guidance of a doctor. Generally, symptoms can be alleviated by relaxing, adjusting menstrual diet, and relieving work pressure.
