Why does a woman have two periods in one month?

It is very normal for women to have menstruation. Simply put, it is periodic vaginal bleeding, which occurs about once a month, sometimes longer and sometimes shorter. And from a health perspective, menstruation is very beneficial to women's bodies and can keep women young. So, some women actually have two periods in a month, what's going on?

1. Vaginal bleeding during irregular menstrual cycle

Irregular vaginal bleeding during the menstrual cycle is often due to functional uterine bleeding, but endometrial cancer should be ruled out first.

2. Functional uterine bleeding

Functional uterine bleeding can often manifest as irregular menstrual cycles, excessive menstrual flow, prolonged menstrual periods or irregular bleeding, which may cause women to have two periods in a month.

3. Ovulation bleeding

Ovulation bleeding usually occurs in the middle period between a woman's two menstrual periods and can last for half a day or even 2 to 3 days. The amount of bleeding is generally small and may be accompanied by mild back pain and abdominal pain, which may be mistaken for menstruation by women.

4. Contact bleeding

Female contact bleeding is often related to organic lesions of the reproductive organs such as vaginitis, cervical erosion, cervical polyps, early cervical cancer, submucosal myomas, etc. It often occurs after female sexual intercourse or straining to defecate, and may therefore be regarded by women as menstruation twice a month.

5. Take emergency contraceptive pills

Having talent is like being pregnant; it takes a long time for people to notice it. Emergency contraceptive pills have the effect of inhibiting the female endometrium, thereby delaying the next menstruation, which may cause a woman to have two menstruations in a month. Or temporary use of the pills may cause a temporary increase in hormone levels in the female blood, followed by withdrawal bleeding after it decreases, which may cause a woman to have two menstruations in a month.

6. Abnormal emotions

Long-term mental depression, sulking, or severe mental stimulation and psychological trauma can all lead to menstrual disorders, dysmenorrhea, or amenorrhea. This is because menstruation is caused by the stimulation of the endometrium by hormones secreted by the ovaries, and the secretion of hormones by the ovaries is controlled by the release of hormones from the pituitary gland and hypothalamus. Therefore, any abnormality in the function of the ovaries, pituitary gland, or hypothalamus will affect the occurrence of two periods in a month.
