What does elevated estradiol mean?

Estradiol is very important to the majority of female friends because it not only promotes the development of reproductive organs but also maintains a woman's entire uterus. Estradiol is mainly composed of estrogen, and it is also the best sign of fetal health when a woman is pregnant. But is it true that the higher the estradiol index, the better? The answer is of course no. If the estradiol level in the body is too high, it means that the disease has already arrived.

1. Disease

High estradiol refers to the estradiol level being higher than normal due to ovarian disease, heart disease, systemic lupus thematosus, etc. Causes of high estradiol levels include:

Ovarian diseases: Ovarian granulosa cell tumor, ovarian embryonal tumor, ovarian fat cell tumor, sex hormone-producing tumor, etc., all show ovarian hyperfunction and increased estradiol secretion.

Heart disease: myocardial infarction, angina pectoris, coronary artery stenosis.

Others: systemic lupus erythematosus, cirrhosis, male obesity.

2. What to do if estradiol is too high

High estradiol levels can easily affect ovulation and menstruation, causing infertility. It is best to use hormone drugs for treatment under the guidance of a doctor. If estradiol is high, you can consider using some androgen drugs, which can antagonize estrogen. The most commonly used one is testosterone propionate. You can also consider weak androgen drugs, such as danazol. It is best to take the medicine under the guidance of a doctor.

In addition, people with high estradiol levels should avoid eating foods high in estrogen, but should eat more low-fat, high-fiber foods. Because this type of diet can reduce estrogen levels in the body.

3. Notes

It should be noted that female friends should never take medicine lightly. Because if the estradiol level is high during menstruation, it may be a coincidence and requires symptomatic treatment after a doctor's diagnosis. Regular follow-up examinations should be conducted. If problems are still found during the follow-up examinations, a scraping can be taken for pathological examination.

If estradiol shows abnormalities for a long time, you need to go to the hospital for examination in time. There are generally two ways to check: blood sample test and urine sample test. You need to fast for 12 hours before a blood test, and be careful not to drink too much water or engage in strenuous exercise before a urine sample test.
