Clue vaginitis

Clue vaginitis

When women suffer from vaginitis, they often experience itching, especially at night when the itching becomes more severe, and they need to seek medical treatment promptly. There are many types of female vaginitis, and treatment should be decided after examination. Clue vaginitis is one of them and is a relatively sensitive symptom of vaginitis. Women with certain diseases must abstain from sexual intercourse and must be selective in their diet.

1. Clue cells are normal squamous epithelial cells infected by Gardnerella or Bacillus subtilis, which changes the morphology of normal epithelial cells, such as irregular edges, roughness, and low transparency. It is a morphological manifestation of a large number of anaerobic bacteria such as Gardnerella adhering to the exfoliated epithelial cells of the vagina. When a large number of clue cells appear in vaginal secretions, it generally indicates bacterial vaginosis. Of course, the diagnosis must be confirmed in combination with several other important indicators, generally pH value, amine test and secretion characteristics.

2. Examination of clue cells requires smear staining, but it is not included in routine examinations. It is mainly combined with other examination items to determine whether there is vaginitis and guide medication. The gold standard for the diagnosis of bacterial vaginosis is the detection of clue cells on Gram stain. During microscopic examination, a large number of short rods and epithelial cells were found. Acid-base and amine tests are commonly used detection methods. The general description is that clue cells come from large flat epithelial cells with a large number of short rods attached to their surface. The surface appears rough, spotted and granular, and the cell edges are irregular. The appearance of this type of cell is often related to bacterial vaginosis, so when a large number of clue cells are found, it can be preliminarily suspected that the patient has bacterial vaginosis.

3. Clue cells are the most sensitive and specific sign of bacterial vaginosis. The diagnosis of bacterial vaginosis can be made based on a positive amine test and the presence of clue cells.

4. Avoid sexual intercourse three days before checking clue cells, and fast after 8 pm the day before. The examination should be done 3 to 7 days after the menstruation ends. The examination may put a strain on your body and mind, so you should relax.

5. Caused by the pathogen Trichomonas vaginalis, it is transmitted through sexual intercourse or indirectly (through bathtubs, swimming pools, clothing, dressings, and contaminated medical equipment, etc.). The main manifestations are vulvar itching, increased leucorrhea, and pale yellow foamy leucorrhea. In severe cases, the leucorrhea may be mixed with blood. There is also a burning sensation and pain during intercourse. When accompanied by urethral infection, there may be frequent urination, painful urination, and even hematuria. Treatment usually includes oral metronidazole and placement of metronidazole suppositories in the vagina for 7 to 10 days as a course of treatment; at the same time, 1% lactic acid solution can be used to wash the vulva. The husband should also be treated at the same time and should avoid sexual intercourse during the treatment period. In addition, patients should pay attention to personal hygiene to avoid unclean sexual intercourse and cross infection.
