What is the body temperature during menstruation?

Menstruation, commonly known as "period", is a special day that every woman will experience every month after entering puberty. Menstruation refers to the periodic thickening of the female endometrium, glandular secretion, vascular hyperplasia, and shedding of the endometrium after thickening, accompanied by bleeding symptoms. Normal women experience it once a month. So, will a woman's body temperature during menstruation be different from usual? The following article will introduce what a woman's body temperature is during menstruation.

When a person's body temperature is normal, the oral (sublingual) temperature is 36.2-37.3 degrees. The armpit temperature is 36.0-37.0 degrees. The rectal temperature (rectal temperature) is 36.5-37.5 degrees.

During a day and night, the normal body temperature is lowest during sleep in the early morning, rising rapidly from 7-9 am, then rising slowly to reach the highest value between 17-19 pm, then decreasing to reach the lowest stable value between 23-24 pm. The difference between the highest and lowest values is usually within 1 degree.

In general, women's body temperature is slightly higher than that of men of the same age. Women's body temperature is higher before menstruation, and drops by about 0.2-0.3 degrees during menstruation. By ovulation, the body temperature usually drops another 0.2 degrees, and then rises suddenly. During a woman's pregnancy (usually 3-4 weeks), her body temperature may remain slightly elevated.

A normal person's body temperature fluctuates to a certain extent every day, and the fluctuation of adult women's body temperature is also related to the menstrual cycle. During the menstrual cycle, women's basal body temperature is often lower before ovulation. Normally, the body temperature before getting up in the morning (i.e. basal body temperature) is below 37 degrees, about 36.4-36.6 degrees. After ovulation, it rises by an average of about 0.5 degrees and remains there until before menstruation, when it begins to decline.

In short, whether during menstruation or at other times, the normal body temperature is 36-37 degrees. If it does not exceed 37.5, there is no big problem! If it exceeds 37.5 degrees, it is a low fever! If it exceeds 37.5 degrees, it is recommended that you drink more water and you don’t need to take antipyretic drugs for the time being.
