What are the symptoms of right-rotated uterus?

Pregnant women should undergo prenatal checkups as required by their doctors. This is a very important process and should not be taken lightly. The examination items at different times are also different. During the examination, some pregnant women may be told that they have right-rotated uterus, but what are the symptoms of right-rotated uterus? In fact, this is not a serious problem and is related to the growth of the fetus.

It can only be identified and diagnosed through B-ultrasound! Usually it will be clearly stated on the B-ultrasound report.

There is no other way to judge accurately!

Due to the anatomical feature of the sigmoid colon occupying the left lower abdomen, the uterus in middle and late pregnancy will have varying degrees of right rotation, which will cause the uterine blood vessels to be pulled or twisted, and will also reduce the blood supply to the uterus and placenta. Dextrorotation of the uterus during pregnancy is not a disease. Since the uterus is rotated to the right in the late pregnancy, lying on the left side can improve the degree of dextrorotation of the uterus, reduce the tension on the uterine blood vessels, restore the diameter of the blood vessels, and thus ensure blood flow to the placenta.

In layman's terms, it means that the uterus rotates backward to the right. This is because the human sigmoid colon occupies the left side of the pelvic cavity. It is also formed naturally as the gestational weeks increase and the baby grows. Basically 80% of pregnant women will have a right-rotated uterus in the late pregnancy.

Suggestions: A right-rotated uterus will block some of the blood from being transferred from the uterus to the placenta, thereby reducing the blood nutrients the baby receives from the placenta, which may cause the baby to be small or lack of oxygen. Therefore, after the late pregnancy, doctors will recommend pregnant women to sleep on their left side to correct the right-rotated uterus position and provide the baby with more nutrition.

The uterus in the middle and late stages of pregnancy has varying degrees of right rotation, which causes the uterine blood vessels to be stretched or twisted, and also reduces the blood supply to the uterus and placenta. Lying on the left side can improve the right rotation of the uterus, thereby ensuring the blood flow to the placenta.

At 24 weeks of pregnancy, the height of the uterine fundus measured by hand should be one horizontal finger above the navel, and the height of the uterine fundus measured above the pubic area with a ruler is 24cm. At 28 weeks of pregnancy, the height of the uterine fundus measured by hand should be three horizontal fingers above the navel, and the height of the uterine fundus measured above the pubic area with a ruler is 26cm. 26 weeks should be between these two levels and will not be the same as 23 weeks. Both rapid or slow growth of the uterus may be abnormal. It is recommended to go to a regular hospital for examination. Long-term hypoxia will be detrimental to the baby's growth. It is recommended that you continue low-flow oxygen inhalation for 3 to 5 days, half an hour a day.
