Most people want to be healthy, but many women experience pain at the junction of the buttocks and lumbar spine. This phenomenon is usually caused by lumbar hyperplasia or coccygeal injury. In fact, no matter what the cause is, if the pain occurs frequently, it is best to go to the hospital to find out the cause. After clarifying the cause, actively treat it under the guidance of a doctor. It is best not to take medication blindly. Causes of lumbar bone spurs Bone spurs belong to the category of "bi syndrome" in traditional Chinese medicine, also known as "bone bi". Traditional Chinese medicine believes that this disease is related to trauma, strain, blood stasis blocking the collaterals, exposure to wind, cold and dampness, internal obstruction of phlegm and dampness, liver and kidney deficiency and bone hyperplasia. 1. Pathology: irregular cartilage lesions, subchondral bone sclerosis and cysts in weight-bearing areas, marginal osteophyte hyperplasia, increased epiphyseal blood flow and varying degrees of synovitis. 2. Histology: In the early stage, the cartilage surface is fragmented, chondrocytes proliferate, the cartilage surface is longitudinally cracked, and crystals are deposited. At the same time, there is cartilage repair and osteophyte proliferation. In the late stage, the cartilage is completely destroyed, manifested as cartilage sclerosis, cartilage disappearance and focal bone necrosis under the cartilage. 3. Biomechanics: The extensibility, pressure resistance, shear resistance and cartilage permeability of articular cartilage are reduced. The cartilage becomes overly swollen and the bone beneath the cartilage becomes hardened. 4. Biochemical changes: The content (concentration) of proteoglycans decreases, their molecular size and aggregation change, and the size and arrangement of collagen fibers as well as the synthesis and degradation of matrix macromolecules all show abnormal changes. 5. Nutrition: The root cause of bone spurs is calcium deficiency, which is the result of stress response. Symptoms of lumbar bone spurs Lumbar bone spurs develop slowly, and the early symptoms are mild and not easily taken seriously. They only manifest as soreness in the waist and legs, which may be light or severe at times. The pain is especially obvious after sitting for a long time, being tired, or when getting up in the morning. The pain is relieved after proper activity or rest. When the intervertebral disc degenerates, the vertebral bodies become deformed, and the space between adjacent vertebrae becomes loose and unstable. When moving, the waist will feel stiff, painful and weak. The stimulation of osteophytes formed after degeneration can make the stiffness of the waist more obvious, which is more severe when resting, relieved after a little activity, and aggravated by overwork. Once the hyperplasia compresses the spinal nerves, it can cause radiating pain in the waist, and may also cause low back pain, leg pain and numbness in the lower limbs. If the posterior edge of the vertebral body proliferates and causes spinal canal stenosis, it will compress the cauda equina and cause cauda equina compression syndrome, with clinical symptoms of intermittent claudication. When the front and side of the vertebral body proliferate, it can compress and stimulate nearby blood vessels and autonomic nerves, causing functional disorders. There are both traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine treatments for lumbar bone spurs, which can be divided into conservative treatment, surgical treatment, and treatments between conservative and surgical treatments. Before treatment, a clear diagnosis should be made first to avoid poor results. There are many treatment methods, and the main principle is probably to reduce the pressure in the intervertebral disc and eliminate the compression on the nerve roots. Absolute bed rest is the general principle, and there are also Chinese medicine internal and external application of Chinese medicine, acupuncture, physical therapy, Western medicine surgical removal and ablation treatment which is between conservative and surgical treatments. The traditional Chinese medicine Yi Zhong is recognized by the medical community as the best plaster for curing lumbar spondylosis and eliminating bone spurs. |
