The difference between early pregnancy, miscarriage and menstruation

Medically, miscarriage before 12 weeks of pregnancy is called early miscarriage, also known as early pregnancy miscarriage. Because the symptoms of early pregnancy miscarriage have many similarities with the symptoms of menstruation, such as continuous vaginal bleeding, and discomfort such as back pain and lower abdominal pain, it is very important to distinguish clearly between menstruation and early pregnancy miscarriage. In fact, there are many differences between the two. If the patient is not sure, he must be checked as soon as possible.

1. Difference between early pregnancy abortion and menstruation

1. Amount of bleeding

Abortion: Natural abortion has less blood volume, so you can just use a sanitary pad.

Menstruation: The menstrual blood volume is relatively heavy, and sanitary napkins are needed.

2. Time

Miscarriage: Spontaneous miscarriage is usually cyclical, that is, it occurs between two menstrual periods and is generally considered spontaneous miscarriage.

Menstruation: Menstrual blood has a regular time. Generally, menstruation is only delayed or advanced by 3 to 7 days. If it exceeds this time period, you should pay attention to whether it is a pathological phenomenon.

3. Color

Miscarriage: The color may be bright red, pink, or dark brown.

Menstruation: Menstruation is usually dark red blood, without nausea, vomiting, etc. It should be over in a few days.

4. Pain

Miscarriage: accompanied by mild lower abdominal pain, a feeling of falling when the fetus moves, lower back pain and abdominal distension.

Menstruation: Not accompanied by lower abdominal pain, etc.

5. React

Miscarriage: There will be symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and loss of appetite.

Menstruation: Symptoms include bad temper, acne, cold hands and feet, etc.

6. HCG value

Miscarriage: If you have been pregnant recently, whether it is miscarriage or not, the hcg value will continue to be positive.

Menstruation: As long as there is no pregnancy in the recent period, the hcg value will be negative.

2. Characteristics of early miscarriage and menstruation

1. Menstruation

The regular vaginal bleeding that women have once a month is called menstruation. As long as female friends reach puberty, their ovaries will gradually mature and secrete female hormones, causing changes in the endometrium, which is called menstruation. Generally speaking, a woman's normal menstrual cycle is 28 days, and menstruation lasts 3-5 days. Many female friends will continue to experience breast development, emotional instability, lower abdominal distension, and stomach pain before or between menstruation, which will have adverse effects on women.

2. Miscarriage

Abortion refers to the death of the fetus in the mother's body before 24 weeks of pregnancy due to physical weakness or kidney deficiency. During a miscarriage, women may experience abdominal cramps and vaginal bleeding, and may also have red discharge. According to medical research, 50% of embryos cannot develop successfully in the mother's body and will be excreted from the body along with menstrual blood. In addition to menstrual blood, some tissue will also be discharged. The blood is also particularly bright, and translucent substances will appear.
