The dangers of teenage pregnancy

The dangers of teenage pregnancy

Everyone must have heard that the news that a post-2000s woman gave birth to her second child went viral on the Internet and at the same time, it also sparked considerable debate in society. In the eyes of many people, teenage pregnancy seems to have become a very common thing. Relevant statistics show that an average of 70 million underage girls become pregnant unexpectedly every year. Although the reasons for teenage pregnancy and premature birth vary from country to country, the harm that teenage pregnancy causes to girls is a common problem.

1. The harm of early pregnancy in teenage girls

1. The fetus is prone to deformity

Before a girl is 20 years old, her body parts are still in the development stage and her organs are not fully developed. At this time, women are generally still studying in school. From a pregnant woman's body's perspective, it's also very damaging as the fetus competes with the developing mother for nutrients. From a medical point of view, the rate of congenital malformations in babies born at this time is higher.

2. Ectopic pregnancy

Abortion can lead to ectopic pregnancy. Many young girls do not take effective contraceptive measures when having sex, and the tragedy of abortion occurs after they become pregnant. Abortion is extremely harmful to a woman's uterus. Intrauterine operation is likely to cause infection, leading to gynecological inflammations such as salpingitis and pelvic inflammatory disease. When pregnant again, the fertilized egg is affected by the inflammation and cannot implant normally in the uterus, thus causing ectopic pregnancy.

3. Infertility

The uterus of adolescent girls has not yet matured, and multiple curettages will thin the fragile uterine wall. Improper operation may even cause uterine perforation. We all know that the uterus is like a fertile piece of land. Only sufficient nutrition can meet the needs of the fertilized egg for growth and development. Repeated curettage causes this land to lose the nutrients that can nourish life until it can no longer nurture life.

4. High chance of miscarriage and premature birth

When a woman who becomes pregnant prematurely has not yet fully developed her hypothalamus-pituitary-ovarian axis, becoming pregnant at this time can easily lead to impaired endocrine function in women. In the early stages of pregnancy, since embryonic development depends on the maintenance of corpus luteum function, women with imperfect endocrine function will naturally be affected by corpus luteum function, leading to miscarriage and premature birth.

5. Maternal and infant mortality rates have increased significantly

Generally speaking, women will gradually mature only after the age of 20, while whole body skeleton development such as tooth calcification and the eruption of wisdom teeth will not be completed until after the age of 23. If the mother is still in the growth and development period, premature pregnancy will inevitably cause the fetus to compete with the developing mother for nutrients, making it impossible for both mother and baby to grow healthily. In addition, delivery is prone to complications such as soft birth canal lacerations, postpartum hemorrhage, and placental abruption, resulting in increased maternal and infant mortality rates.

2. Best childbearing age for women

The golden childbearing age for women is between 23 and 30 years old, preferably not exceeding 30 years old. Because during this period, the woman's body is fully developed in all aspects and her physical condition is the best, it is easier to successfully fertilize and the probability of miscarriage is the lowest.
