Pregnant women should pay attention to the content of ethanol in skin care products

Can pregnant women use skin care products containing alcohol? Are skin care products containing alcohol suitable for pregnant women? Relevant personnel said that pregnant women cannot use skin care products containing alcohol, because for pregnant women, the baby in the belly is more important, and this is something pregnant women must pay attention to. They cannot ignore the health of the baby just for the sake of love.

Can pregnant women use skin care products containing alcohol?

Do not use skin care products containing alcohol or spices. It is recommended to use skin care products with natural ingredients during pregnancy, and all spices are not allowed to be used.

The reasons why ethanol is added to skin care products are as follows:

1. Necessary to purify some effective skin care ingredients.

Some ingredients (mostly those of plant origin) need to be purified from the raw materials using ethanol in order to achieve the effect of purifying only the necessary ingredients. (For example, SEKKISEI has a strong ethanol smell.)

2. Stabilize the ingredients.

Ethanol has a bactericidal effect, preventing germs from multiplying. Prevent ingredients from spoiling and maintain the stability of ingredients. (Note: Create skin care products without preservative additives, most of which use ethanol instead of additives.)

3. Enhance the application experience of skin care products.

Water cannot penetrate human skin. In order to allow moisturizing ingredients to penetrate, skin care products use foliated surfactants. However, it still takes time for the ingredients to penetrate into the body, and the longer this time is, the more users will feel that the product is greasy, sticky, and difficult to digest. Skin care product manufacturers all know that products branded as "greasy and difficult to absorb" are not likely to be favored by consumers. Therefore, ethanol is used to evaporate moisture, creating an illusion of quick absorption and making the skin care products feel fresh. However, it may also cause excessive evaporation of moisture on the skin's surface, making the skin dry. Therefore, people with dry skin should try to minimize the use of skin care products containing ethanol.

4. Shrink pores

Ethanol can lower the temperature of the skin, thus having the effect of shrinking pores.

The above is the reason why ethanol is added to skin care products. Therefore, people with dry skin and flaky skin should avoid using them. Even if they are used, they should choose skin care products with low alcohol content. In addition, it must not be used on skin that is allergic to alcohol. In other words, even if you have sensitive skin or skin problems, the cause is mostly not due to the use of skin care products containing ethanol. But pregnant women should use it with caution.
