How long does it take to bleed after taking abortion pills?

The drug for medical abortion is a combination of miso and mifepristone. Eat rice noodles on the first and second days. On the third day, take miso in the morning. The fetal sac will usually flow out four to six hours after taking miso. After taking the medicine, walk around as much as possible and massage your lower abdomen vigorously. It can push the fetal sac out.

For medical abortion, the average number of bleeding days after the gestational sac is expelled is 16 days.

If some people still bleed after 18 days, it may be that the decidua is not completely peeled off, affecting uterine contraction and blood circulation; or the gestational sac is not discharged in detail, resulting in incomplete miscarriage; in a very small number of patients, it is caused by infection after medical abortion surgery and endometrial inflammation.

If there is residual uterine cleaning surgery, the vaginal bleeding time will be prolonged, thereby increasing the chance of infection. If the infection causes fallopian tube blockage, it will affect pregnancy.

Because the bleeding time after medical abortion is long and the cervix is relaxed, it will provide opportunities for the growth of bacteria and reverse infection. Therefore, if vaginal bleeding lasts for more than 7 days, antibiotics should be taken regularly for 3-5 days to prevent infection.

In order to recover as quickly as possible after medical abortion, you must pay attention to the following issues: you must not have sexual intercourse within one month after medical abortion to avoid infection; you cannot take a sitz bath after medical abortion to avoid infection of the reproductive system. Remember to use hot water when washing your hair or taking a bath, get enough rest, eat a light diet, avoid spicy food, and pay attention to increasing nutrition. If you bleed too much, you can eat some blood-tonifying and qi-tonifying food appropriately.

A follow-up visit is required after medical abortion. If there is no residue, there is no need for uterine curettage. If there is any remnant, uterine curettage is required as soon as possible. Otherwise, the residue remaining in the uterus will affect the contraction and involution of the uterus, causing long-term bleeding, which can easily cause endometritis or endometrial adhesions, fallopian tube adhesions, pelvic inflammatory disease, etc. In severe cases, it may cause infertility.
