Vulvar biopsy is a way of conducting guided examinations on women. Through this examination, diseases such as vaginal adenocarcinoma, senile vaginitis, chronic cervicitis, and Bartholin's gland carcinoma can be diagnosed. At the same time, it can also provide a certain understanding of symptoms such as increased leucorrhea, cervical erosion, and cervical cysts. This examination is mainly suitable for women with symptoms such as vulvar itching, lower abdominal pain, and increased bowel movements during menstruation, but it is not suitable for women during menstruation.

1. What does a vulvar biopsy check?

Related symptoms: burning sensation in the genitals, vulva sores, increased leucorrhea after menopause, cervical cysts, cervical adhesions, cervical occlusion, cervical hypertrophy, cervical erosion, bloody and purulent leucorrhea, and increased leucorrhea.

2. Clinical Significance

Abnormal result: The test reveals abnormal cervical cells, which may indicate early or advanced cervical cancer.

People who need to be checked: those with vulvar itching, burning discomfort, lower abdominal or lumbosacral pain, which worsens during sexual intercourse, menstruation and bowel movements. There are also people who feel symptoms such as weakness in both lower limbs, bitter taste in the mouth, nausea, and yellow urine.

Unsuitable groups: women one week before menstruation and during menstruation.

Taboos before the examination: No sexual intercourse three days before the examination. You should fast after 8 pm the day before the physical examination. The examination should be done 3-7 days after the menstrual period ends. Before the operation, the leucorrhea should be checked in advance to confirm that there is no vaginitis before a biopsy can be performed.

Requirements during the examination: Relax during the examination. The examination may cause physical and mental burden, so you should face it positively and actively cooperate with the examination. The biopsy site may bleed, so do not have sexual intercourse within 1-2 weeks after the examination, and wait at least half a month after the biopsy before having sex to avoid inflammation and infection. Vaginal douches or sitz baths. If vaginal bleeding is heavy, you should go to the hospital for examination and treatment.

IV. Inspection Process

The uterine cavity is expanded with a distending medium, and a cold light source is introduced into the uterine cavity through a hysteroscope via a fiberoptic light guide and lens. The cervical canal, internal cervical os, endometrium and fallopian tube opening are directly observed so that the diseased tissue can be sampled intuitively and accurately for pathological examination.
