What causes diarrhea in autumn?

We all know that when autumn comes, the weather will be cooler. Starting from the day of the Beginning of Autumn, the weather will become colder and colder. Many people will often have fever and stomach upset after eating in autumn because of the three hottest days. Therefore, you should be careful about what you eat in autumn, otherwise it is likely to cause diarrhea. So what causes diarrhea in autumn?

Autumn diarrhea is an acute enteritis caused by rotavirus. It mainly occurs in infants under 2 years old, especially in infants under 1.5 years old. The disease occurs mostly from September to November, so it is called autumn diarrhea.

Among infants and young children suffering from diarrhea in autumn and winter, 40% to 70% are caused by rotavirus infection, and about 20% are caused by other bacteria. Due to the high incidence of acute diarrhea caused by rotavirus, diarrhea occurring in autumn and winter should be more likely to be caused by rotavirus infection. Autumn diarrhea has an acute onset and is often accompanied by fever, which can last for 1-4 days and may also be accompanied by cough and runny nose. The patient vomits on the day of onset and has watery stools that are white or light yellow, 10 to 20 times a day, accompanied by symptoms of dehydration. The course of the disease is generally 4-7 days, and can be as long as 3 weeks. Most cases recover quickly if treated promptly.

The course of autumn diarrhea in children caused by rotavirus is generally 5 to 8 days, and it will improve and heal on its own. As long as parents follow the doctor's orders to take medicine, drink plenty of water, and supplement their children with high-nutrition, high-vitamin, and easily digestible food, generally speaking, it can be gradually cured.

Infants and young children with severe diarrhea in autumn, such as high fever, frequent vomiting and diarrhea, and dehydration, should go to the hospital for treatment in time.

You can make your own rice water and salt solution or oral rehydration salts at home for your child to take.

Whether the condition is mild or severe, there is no need to fast. As long as the child has an appetite, he or she can be encouraged to eat. During the acute phase, you can reduce the number of breastfeeding times and shorten the duration of each breastfeeding. You can add an equal amount of rice soup to milk. After the child's nutrition improves, he or she can gradually resume eating. The amount of food consumed must be increased gradually, from less to more, and from thin to thick.

Do not abuse antibiotics.

Autumn diarrhea is caused by viruses. Antibiotics are not only ineffective but also kill the normal flora in the intestines, causing flora disorders and aggravating diarrhea.

The weather gradually gets cooler in autumn, and the intestinal motility of babies with diarrhea has already increased. If the abdomen is exposed to cold again, the intestinal motility will be even faster, which will aggravate the diarrhea. Parents can use a hot water bottle to apply heat to the baby's abdomen, or rub the baby's belly to relieve pain.

Keep the anus clean, wipe it clean with warm water after each bowel movement, and change the diaper of the baby in time. Things used by the sick child should be washed and disinfected promptly to avoid repeated cross-infection.
