Blood exists inside the human body's blood vessels. Under normal circumstances, the human body does not bleed easily, of course, with the exception of women. Because women have menstruation every month, a lot of blood will flow out of their lower body during menstruation. In life, some women bleed during bowel movements in addition to during menstruation. This is obviously abnormal. In medicine, this condition is called blood in the stool. So, why do women bleed when they go to the toilet? Blood in the stool Causes and symptoms Hematochezia is also known as "bloody stool", "bleeding" and "hemedema", and is characterized by bloody stool or fresh stool after defecation. It is more common in upper gastrointestinal ulcer bleeding, gastrointestinal polyps, small intestinal bleeding, tumors, bleeding from perianal diseases, as well as some blood diseases, acute infectious drugs, parasites, etc. This refers to blood in the stool caused by hemorrhoid rupture, anal fissure, anal sinusitis, and rectal colon mucosal damage. The stool is soft and formed or hard, with blood attached to the surface of the stool. Sometimes the blood comes before the stool, and sometimes the stool comes before the blood. The blood is mostly bright red, and sometimes dark red and turbid. When the amount of blood is large, it will not stop dripping, and the pain in the anus will increase after defecation. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that bloody stools are caused by heat (and dampness) accumulation in the intestines, or by spleen deficiency and inability to control blood circulation. It can be treated by clearing intestinal heat, stopping bleeding and replenishing qi and blood. Self-treatment precautions (1) Develop the habit of regular bowel movements, preferably loose and mushy stools. (2) Reduce postures that increase abdominal pressure, such as squatting and holding your breath. Avoid sitting, standing, walking for long periods of time and overwork. (3) Avoid spicy, greasy, rough, and residue-rich foods, as well as tobacco, alcohol, and coffee. (4) Eat more foods that have the effects of clearing intestinal heat, moisturizing and nourishing the mucous membrane, and promoting bowel movements and stopping bleeding, such as raw pear juice, lotus root juice, water chestnut juice, reed root juice, celery juice, carrots, white radish (cooked), bitter melon, eggplant, cucumber, spinach, day lily, cabbage, egg yolk, apples, figs, bananas, black sesame seeds, walnut meat, white fungus, etc. (5) Be cheerful and don’t get upset or angry. A bad mood, irritability and depression will cause the intestinal mucosa to contract and blood circulation to be obstructed. (6) Reduce sexual intercourse. Frequent sexual intercourse can cause congestion of the intestinal mucosa. Increased bleeding. |
