Breast pain in early pregnancy

Breast pain in early pregnancy

Many women will experience some uncomfortable symptoms just after they become pregnant. For example, some people will experience breast pain. In fact, this phenomenon is most likely caused by progesterone stimulating the breasts, and the mammary glands of the breasts begin to secrete milk. This is to ensure that there is enough milk to feed the child after giving birth. Some pregnant women will even have milk leakage in the middle or late stages. Let's take a look at what causes breast pain in early pregnancy.

The milk production and delivery system continues to expand and develop. Towards the end of pregnancy, there are 15 to 20 round protuberances in each breast, each of which consists of a main glandular bubble at the root end inside and a milk-delivery duct with a narrowed top opening outside the nipple.

Next, each rounded protrusion branches out into 20 to 40 small lobes, smaller milk ducts that contain 10 to 100 supporting glandular bubbles or milk sacs. At this time, the breasts are fully capable of producing milk.

If the baby is born early at this time, the mother's breasts will also have milk to supply him.

But without stimulation from your baby's sucking or the help of a breast pump, milk production stops. This is because estrogen and progesterone inhibit prolactin, which is the driving force behind milk-making cells producing milk.

Signs and symptoms: Breast enlargement, and all changes in the way your breasts look and feel, will become more noticeable. Even expectant mothers whose breasts do not change significantly in the early and mid-pregnancy will notice obvious changes in their breasts during this period. Most people will experience colostrum leakage.

What is the normal body temperature in early pregnancy?

Generally speaking, the body temperature of pregnant women will rise in the early stages of pregnancy, and after the second trimester (13 weeks of pregnancy), the body temperature will return to its original normal state. A woman's body temperature will rise after pregnancy, generally between 36.9℃-37.2℃. If this high temperature period lasts for more than 21 days and there are no other abnormal reactions, no menstruation, and even early pregnancy reactions, it can generally be considered a sign of pregnancy. If the body temperature fluctuates, it should be taken seriously, especially for patients with habitual miscarriage, who should take timely measures.

The change in body temperature in early pregnancy is because progesterone has a warming effect, which can increase the body temperature by 0.3-0.4℃ above normal. Generally speaking, a woman's basal body temperature will change with the menstrual period. Before and after menstruation, the body temperature will be maintained at around 36.5℃ under the action of estrogen, and then gradually decrease. It will be the lowest during ovulation. After ovulation or conception, the body temperature will rise by 0.3-0.4℃ due to the influence of progesterone. Your body temperature will return to normal during the next menstrual period or the day before it.

After a woman becomes pregnant, her luteinizing hormone rises. Generally, the basal body temperature of women in the follicular phase is 36.5°C, and the body temperature will rise by more than 0.5°C during the luteal phase. It is a normal physiological phenomenon for pregnant women to have an increased body temperature in the early stages of pregnancy. Pregnant women can pay attention to changes in their body temperature to infer that they are pregnant. If they find abnormal changes in body temperature, they need to go to the hospital for examination in time to rule out potential diseases.
