A small amount of blood during menstruation during pregnancy

Bleeding during pregnancy is a serious matter. Therefore, during pregnancy, as long as there is bleeding, no matter how much blood, you must go to the hospital for examination and treatment in time to determine whether the cause of bleeding in women is cervical lesions, ectopic pregnancy or hydatidiform mole, and then take appropriate response and treatment measures according to the specific cause. In addition, if pregnant mothers take good care of themselves during pregnancy, they can prevent bleeding during pregnancy.

1. What is bleeding in early pregnancy?

In the early stages of pregnancy, the embryo implantation is unstable. Miscarriage may occur when the mother suffers from chronic diseases or congenital or acquired uterine developmental abnormalities, immune system problems, viral infections, or due to excessive work, excessive stress, too intense sexual life, external impact, improper use of medication, etc. When a mother has a miscarriage, vaginal bleeding symptoms may occur.

There are three main reasons for bleeding in early pregnancy:

1. Cervical lesions

If a pregnant woman has cervical lesions before pregnancy, resulting in erosion, or already has cervical polyps, then after pregnancy, it is very likely that the surface capillaries will rupture and bleed due to hormonal changes. Therefore, when a pregnant woman has symptoms of vaginal bleeding in the early stages of pregnancy, a cervical examination should be performed.

2. Ectopic pregnancy

Ectopic pregnancy can also cause bleeding in early pregnancy because the fertilized egg implants outside the uterus and cannot provide the embryo with sufficient nutrients, causing the gradually developing fertilized egg to expand the fallopian tube wall and cause the tube wall to rupture. Bleeding caused by ectopic pregnancy usually occurs during the 7th to 8th week of pregnancy, accompanied by severe abdominal pain or massive intra-abdominal bleeding.

3. Hydatidiform mole

Pregnant women with hydatidiform mole may also experience pregnancy bleeding, accompanied by severe morning sickness or palpitations. Women who are younger than 20 or older than 35, who have a history of miscarriage or hydatidiform mole, etc. should be careful about whether they may get pregnant with hydatidiform mole again.

How to prevent bleeding in early pregnancy

1. Try to avoid or reduce childbirth at an advanced age (≥35 years old).

2. Those with a history of abnormal pregnancy and childbirth should receive eugenics counseling before pregnancy.

3. Actively adjust your physical and mental state before pregnancy, including actively treating existing underlying diseases, such as hepatitis, diabetes, thyroid disease, hypertension, nephritis, etc.

4. You should also establish good living habits and quit bad habits such as smoking, alcoholism, excessive coffee drinking, drug use, etc.

5. Moderate exercise can enhance physical fitness.

6. Eat a balanced diet.

7. Learn to self-regulate, reduce stress, and maintain a calm and positive attitude.

8. During pregnancy, especially in the early stages (before 8 weeks of pregnancy), avoid infection and fever. Do not overexpose to radiation and chemicals such as arsenic, lead, formaldehyde, benzene (such as moving into a newly renovated room, dyeing your hair, etc.). Do not take any medication on your own.

If you experience symptoms of threatened abortion during pregnancy, such as vaginal bleeding, abdominal pain, back pain, etc., please seek medical attention immediately. During the treatment of pregnancy, pay attention to rest and stay in bed as much as possible. Pay attention to the amount and nature of vaginal bleeding, observe whether there is tissue in the discharge at any time, reduce stimulation, and prohibit sexual intercourse.
