Does it mean I’m pregnant if I have very little menstruation?

Women often experience irregular menstruation, which can manifest in many ways, such as very little menstrual flow. Solving this problem requires many aspects. First of all, you must pay attention to your diet. In addition, you must find ways to eliminate fatigue. Women, in particular, must keep warm, etc. It is worth mentioning that there are many reasons for very little menstrual flow, so could this be due to pregnancy?

Does it mean I’m pregnant if I have very little menstruation?

Oligomenorrhea means that the menstrual cycle is normal, but each menstrual period is shorter than 3 days and the amount of menstrual blood does not exceed 20 ml each time. The amount of menstrual blood is light or dark in color. Dark menstrual blood is caused by menstrual blood being stored in the uterine cavity for too long. 1. Excessive and scanty menstruation is caused by hypopituitarism, insufficient estrogen secretion from the ovaries, low estrogen levels in the body, insufficient endometrial proliferation, and a thin endometrium. It can also be caused by long-term use of contraceptive drugs. 2. Endometrial lesions such as endometrial dysplasia, rough curettage that damages the endometrium, and endometrial tuberculosis. 3. Individual differences, that is, after menarche, the menstrual flow is always very small, but ovulation and reproductive functions are normal. 4. Gradual decrease in menstruation is often a precursor to amenorrhea.

It is recommended to go to the hospital's gynecology department for relevant examinations 3-7 days after the end of menstruation to facilitate a clear diagnosis.

The condition is mainly caused by deficiency of qi and blood. It is recommended to use traditional Chinese medicine for treatment, including yam, polygonatum, cordyceps, longan meat, clove, Guangdong calliandra, Kuncao, Millettia reticulata, Qianjinba, Ophiopogon japonicus, donkey-hide gelatin, black snake, processed Polygonum multiflorum, Pseudostellaria heterophylla, Qingyang ginseng, iron gall powder, placenta, white fish fat, Achyranthes bidentata, antler frost, roasted pangolin, red and white peony root, safflower, peach kernel, astragalus, fresh basil, Photinia leaf, Curculigo orchioides, Epimedium, Cistanche deserticola, Patrinia salsa, Cuscuta australis, Rhizoma Smilacis Glabrae, raw coix seed, red vine, Rehmannia glutinosa, Trillium, turmeric slices, and raw licorice.

Precautions for menstrual bleeding

Under normal circumstances, the amount of menstrual bleeding is about 60 ml. Less than 30 ml is too little, and more than 80 ml is too much. How do you know if your menstrual flow is normal? Sanitary napkins can help. Generally speaking, the dosage for each cycle should not exceed two packs (10 tablets/pack). If more than three packs are used and each tablet is soaked, it is considered menorrhagia. If less than one pack is used each time and the amount of blood on each tablet is very small, it is considered oligomenorrhea. Both situations are abnormal. Generally speaking, light menstrual blood flow is caused by low estrogen levels. Estrogen stimulates the thickening of the endometrium in preparation for conception. If conception does not occur, the proliferating endometrium will shed and bleed to form menstruation.

Low estrogen levels in the body can cause the endometrium to not grow thick enough and result in less menstrual bleeding, which can affect conception in the future. However, for girls shortly after their menarche, the secretion of estrogen in their bodies has not yet reached a balanced and stable state, so the amount of menstrual blood is generally not much, and it is normal for menstruation to be early or late. Even after forming a regular menstrual cycle or a relatively stable amount of bleeding, emotional tension, environmental changes, increased psychological pressure, or sudden stimulation may cause temporary endocrine disorders, increasing or decreasing estrogen secretion and increasing or decreasing menstrual blood volume. As long as the above temporary factors disappear, menstruation will return to normal.
