Why are my labia turning white?

For married women, the labia are generally black. This is not a sign of disease, but a normal physiological reaction. Some women think that darkening of the labia is a sign of dirtiness, so they deliberately avoid sexual intercourse. In fact, there is no need to think that way. In life, some women's labia are not black, but white. So what causes the labia to suddenly turn white?

Women with white labia should be alert to vulvar leukoplakia

Experts point out that white spots or white spots on the labia majora and itching are typical symptoms of vulvar leukoplakia. Generally speaking, in the early stage of the symptoms of vulvar leukoplakia, patients will feel itching, dryness, burning and pain in the vulva. Local or diffuse white thickened patches will be found around the labia majora and minora, perineum and anus. The skin surface is rough and there are cracks and ulcers.

White labia is very harmful and needs to be diagnosed and treated as soon as possible

Clinical symptoms show that patients suffering from vulvar leukoplakia often feel unbearable itching in the vulva, as if a hole is drilled in the heart. The itching is paroxysmal, especially at night, accompanied by burning, dryness and discomfort, which seriously affects sleep. As the disease progresses, the vulvar skin and mucous membranes turn white or light pink, the surface becomes rough and uneven, and there are cracks, ulcers, erosions, or hardening and loss of elasticity, which can cause difficulty in urination. In addition, the local skin and mucous membranes become thinner, and there is also swelling and edema. The labia majora and minora shrink or even disappear, making the vaginal opening narrower, which can cause difficulties in sexual life and lead to difficulties in childbirth and cesarean section.

In addition, some patients with vulvar leukoplakia also have systemic symptoms such as palpitations and shortness of breath, irritability and weakness, chest tightness, decreased appetite, insomnia, back pain, and sexual indifference. In severe cases, it may further develop into vulvar cancer. The canceration rate is around 2-5%. Although it is not high, it should not be easily ignored.
