What to do if mold keeps recurring

Fungal infection, also known as candidal vaginitis, is a reproductive system disease with a relatively high incidence rate among women. It will have a great impact on the patient's private health and daily life, so it needs to be treated in time. However, many patients with candidal vaginitis will experience recurrence after treatment. So, what should you do if candidal vaginitis keeps recurring? Here we will introduce the causes, treatment methods and precautions of recurrence of candidal vaginitis!

1. Why do molds recur?

Misuse of antibiotics, improper use of antibiotics or abuse of antibiotics may lead to serious consequences, because while antibiotics kill pathogenic bacteria, they also inhibit some beneficial bacteria, and uninhibited and foreign resistant bacteria will take the opportunity to multiply in large numbers, including mold.

For men, the fungi in the vagina can also be transmitted to the male genitals. When the fungi parasitize in the male reproductive tract, because the male reproductive tract is relatively dry and does not have the acidic environment that fungi like, there will be no obvious symptoms of fungal infection. However, the fungal spores in the male body can be transmitted to the female, causing direct infection caused by sexual intercourse.

Washing machines, almost every washing tub has hidden mold. Most of the mold found on clothes comes from the washing machine tub, and the more frequently the washing machine is used, the more mold there is.

Public facilities, some women wearing short skirts on long-distance buses may also be infected with candidal vaginitis. It sounds incredible, but there are such cases. Some public facilities, such as bus seats, flush toilets in hotels, and poorly hygienic beds, may hide a large number of molds, which can cause candidal vaginitis.

Excessive cleaning, improper cleaning, and cleaning addiction are also hidden dangers of fungal infection. Frequent use of gynecological cleaning disinfectants, disinfected pads, etc., destroys the microenvironment of the vagina itself, causing imbalance, reducing the vagina's self-antibacterial ability, making it easier for fungi to invade and cause disease.

Use birth control pills. Some women are prone to recurrence of candidal vaginitis after using birth control pills, because the estrogen in birth control pills can only inhibit the fungus from forming hyphae, causing the fungus to further invade the vaginal tissue.

Tight-fitting synthetic underwear has many disadvantages. It can increase the temperature and humidity of the vagina. The hot and stuffy environment is the best living environment for mold to multiply in large numbers.

2. What should I do if mold recurs?

1. Change the acidity and alkalinity of the vagina

If you use alkaline drugs to wash the vagina, you can use 2-4% soda solution to wash the vagina to change the living environment of mold.

2. Apply fungicide:

(1) Nystatin vaginal suppository (containing 250,000 U of nystatin) is inserted deep into the vagina, once in the morning and once in the evening or once every night for 2 weeks.

(2) Oral administration of nystatin 500,000 U, 4 times a day. Male carriers must also receive routine treatment, which is one of the important measures to prevent recurrence in female patients.

Local treatment can be achieved by first using Chinese herbal medicine for fumigation and sitting bath, then applying medication into the vagina, such as Daktarin or clotrimazole vaginal tablets, and applying clotrimazole ointment externally. Topical treatment can be carried out throughout the intermenstrual period, with medication discontinued during menstruation and treatment continued after the menstruation is over;

Take fluconazole orally, 150 mg each time, once a day, after meals, for 3 consecutive days. If this treatment is continued for 3 months, it is recommended that you go to a regular specialist hospital and receive standardized treatment under the guidance of a doctor.

3. Other matters needing attention

Keep the vulva clean, prohibit sexual intercourse during treatment, eat a light diet and avoid spicy and greasy foods.

The characteristic of candidal vaginitis is repeated attacks, which are especially obvious before and after menstruation. To treat recurrent candidal vaginitis, we must first eliminate the causes that can lead to repeated vaginal candida infections, while extending the treatment cycle and using multiple treatment methods at the same time.
