What does a postpartum physical examination check?

There are many things that women need to pay attention to after giving birth, because they often have many problems, so they need to undergo many examinations after giving birth to prevent some hidden diseases from hiding in the female body. There are many examination items, but these examinations are all beneficial to women. However, many people do not know its specific examinations. So what does the postpartum physical examination check?

Pelvic floor examination: Damage to the pelvic floor muscles and nerves during childbirth may cause women to face a series of problems after childbirth. This not only brings a lot of inconvenience to female friends in life, but also may cause vaginal relaxation, which in turn affects the quality of women's sexual life. If urinary incontinence occurs after childbirth, it must be checked and treated in time. Pelvic floor rehabilitation exercises can effectively contract relaxed pelvic floor muscles, restore muscle tension and elasticity, and cure problems such as urinary incontinence. The best time to do pelvic floor rehabilitation is 3 months after delivery.

Gynecological examination: After ten months of pregnancy and one day of delivery, the organs in the pelvic cavity are the biggest contributors to turning an expectant mother into a new mother. After such an ordeal, they are naturally a top priority in postpartum recovery. Moreover, gynecological diseases have always been at a high incidence rate among married women, and are known as the "killer of women's health". The recovery of pelvic organs after childbirth is closely related to the new mother's chance of developing gynecological diseases in the future, so a comprehensive gynecological examination is absolutely necessary.

Weight check: Weight is a basic indicator of human health. Being overweight or underweight is abnormal. Once it exceeds the limit, it will bring many health risks. Weight measurement can monitor the new mother's nutritional intake and physical recovery status, and always remind the new mother to prevent unbalanced nutritional intake and uncoordinated activity from harming their health.

Blood pressure check: Changes in blood pressure can have serious effects on the body in many ways. Prolonged elevation of blood pressure can easily lead to systemic vasospasm, reducing the effective circulating blood volume, while ischemia and reduced oxygen carrying capacity may endanger organs and tissues throughout the body. Once important organs such as the brain, heart, liver, and kidneys are threatened, the pathological and physiological changes may lead to convulsions, coma, cerebral edema, cerebral hemorrhage, etc., and in severe cases, even death.

Breast examination: Because the breasts are filled with milk, they become very plump and tender after delivery. However, breasts are responsible for feeding babies. They are in contact with the baby's tender face and mouth every day, and the appearance of breasts is very delicate. They often cannot withstand even the slightest damage, so breast swelling and breast pain often bother new mothers. In severe cases, they may be infected with mastitis, threatening breast health, affecting the lactation system, causing milk stagnation, and the milk secreted by the breasts directly affects the baby's health. Therefore, checking the breasts is not only a protection for new mothers, but also a guarantee for the healthy growth of babies.

Abdominal examination: The abdominal cavity contains important organs of the digestive system and urinary and reproductive systems, and is an important part of the physical examination. Abdominal examination can further understand the repositioning of the uterus and the condition of other organs in the abdominal cavity after delivery. For new mothers who have had a cesarean section, it is even more important to perform an abdominal examination. Cesarean section will cause abnormal compression of the organs in the abdominal cavity, and reduction is more difficult than normal delivery. Moreover, the healing of the incision during cesarean section is also very important.

Routine blood and urine examinations: A new mother has just given birth to a baby, and her physiological and immune systems are in a period of recovery and change, making it very easy for her to get infected, giving various diseases an opportunity to take advantage. Routine blood and urine tests can detect the functioning of various systems in the new mother's body and monitor the body at a microscopic level.

Routine blood tests are not only needed to detect blood diseases, but their measurement data are also an important basis for the diagnosis and identification of other systemic diseases. Similarly, routine urine examination is also one of the most commonly used examination methods in clinical practice, which can directly and quickly reflect the condition of the urinary system.
