It is common to find a lump in the vagina, because the vagina often gets inflamed, and because of anger, acne and bumps appear around the vagina. It is also possible that it may be a vaginal cystic mass, vaginal cyst, small tumor, etc. These all require a clear diagnosis in the hospital. What causes vaginal masses?(I) Vaginal cystic mass 1. Vaginal epithelial inclusion cyst, also known as implantation cyst, is a small amount of vaginal mucosa that is buried under the mucosa and continues to proliferate and desquamate, and finally liquefies to form a cyst. (1) History of perineal and vaginal laceration, episiotomy, or vaginal hysterectomy and perineal repair during delivery. (2) There are usually no clinical symptoms and the disease is often discovered accidentally during a gynecological examination. (3) The cyst is generally small and often exists alone. It is most likely to occur in the middle or posterior part of the lower posterior wall of the vagina. It protrudes into the vagina like a polyp and is blue and transparent. (4) Pathological examination shows that the cyst contains caseous keratinized contents and the cyst wall is covered with flat epithelium, which is generally called epidermal cyst. 2. Vaginal mesonephric duct cysts are more common, also known as Garter cysts, which originate from the remains of the mesonephric ducts in the embryonic period. Due to the complete degeneration of water, some of them show cystic expansion or secretion retention, forming cysts.(1) When the cyst is large, it may cause difficulty or pain during sexual intercourse, or even hinder childbirth. The cyst may also extend to the bladder cervix or between the vesicovaginal space, causing bladder irritation symptoms. (2) They are mostly located on the anterior and lateral wall of the vagina. They are usually single, round or oval in shape, and vary in diameter from 2 to 5 cm. Occasionally, the cyst protrudes from the vaginal opening, similar to a cystocele. (3) Pathological examination showed that the cyst wall was lined with a single layer of cuboidal epithelium or ciliated cinnamonoid epithelium, and the cyst contained watery, serous brown fluid. The capsule is surrounded by smooth muscle.
(1) Cysts are usually small and asymptomatic, but sometimes they are large enough to affect sexual life. (2) It can occur in any part of the vagina. (3) Pathological examination showed that the cyst wall was columnar epithelium with secretory function, the cyst was filled with transparent mucus, and the epithelial cell histochemical staining PAS was positive. 4. Urothelial cysts are rare. There are remnants of urogenital sinus epithelium that differentiate into urethral epithelium in the vaginal wall tissue. Continuing growth can form a cyst, and the cyst wall is transitional epithelium. 5. Blind ureter: One side of the ureter passes into the cyst to form a blind ureter. Cystoscopy showed that the ureteral orifice on the affected side was absent, and intravenous pyelography could confirm the diagnosis. |
