One month of bleeding after medical abortion?

If you can choose medical abortion within 45 days of pregnancy, but everyone knows that medical abortion can easily result in incomplete abortion. Some women are still bleeding one month after the abortion. Generally, this situation is mostly an incomplete abortion. You need to go to the hospital for an ultrasound examination as soon as possible to see the residue in the uterine cavity, and then receive symptomatic treatment based on the examination results. Regular check-ups are required after medical abortion.

What is the problem of residual matter after medical abortion?

Generally, medical abortion can drain out the gestational sac, but the decidua or blood congestion in the uterus cannot be completely drained out. Bleeding after medical abortion usually lasts for 1-3 weeks, and the overall symptom is that the bleeding becomes less and less day by day. If the bleeding decreases and then increases again, or does not decrease at all, or gradually increases, or there is residue, it is abnormal.

If the B-ultrasound determines that there is no residue in the uterus, then intrauterine infection should be considered, because the blood from miscarriage is a good culture medium for bacteria. If the condition is serious, there will be tenderness in the uterus and fever during gynecological examination. Some people are prone to bruises or bulges after slight contact or clamping. This may be because their blood coagulation function is not very good. During medical abortion or surgical abortion, there may be heavy bleeding or prolonged bleeding.

Medical abortion, also known as drug abortion, refers to the use of Mifepristone tablets plus misoprostol to terminate early pregnancy. In recent years, it has been widely used in clinical practice and is a very popular drug for preventing early pregnancy. In the early stages of pregnancy, abortion can be achieved without surgery by injection or medication. The use of drugs to terminate pregnancy and medical abortion is the latest development in the past 20 years. Currently, the commonly used drugs are mifepristone tablets (Ru486) and prostaglandins. The former causes degeneration and necrosis of the uterine decidua and softening of the cervix, while the latter causes uterine contraction and promotes the expulsion of the embryo.

What are the dangers of medical abortion?

1. Cause inflammation: Since the embryonic sac tissue in the uterine cavity can be discharged on the same day after medical abortion, sometimes the pregnancy tissue is not completely discharged, the uterine membrane is not restored well, and the vaginal bleeding time is longer, which can last for 2-3 weeks or even 1-2 months. Long-term chronic blood loss can cause anemia and reduce the body's resistance. At this time, bacteria often travel back through the vagina and cause inflammation of the endometrium.

2. Low success rate: In recent years, there have been many cases of infertility and gynecological inflammation caused by going to the hospital for curettage surgery due to poor abortion results from medical treatment. Mifepristone, which is used for medical abortion, has only been around for a little over a decade, and clinical trials are not sufficient. The success rate is only 75%.

3. Cause infertility: Medical abortion can easily lead to fallopian tube blockage and cervical adhesion, causing infertility. Incomplete medical abortion and improper uterine curettage surgery may also cause infertility. Medical abortion causes excessive damage to the uterus and ovaries, and is therefore one of the causes of infertility.
