How long does it usually take for a medical abortion to be discharged?

Artificial abortion is a popular issue in modern life. As modern society becomes more open, many people become less conservative about sex. However, unexpected pregnancy always causes troubles. Therefore, in order not to disturb their desired life, many people choose artificial abortion to deal with unexpected pregnancy. Among the methods of abortion, medical abortion has the least side effects. Let's take a look at how long it usually takes for a medical abortion to be discharged.

The survey shows that 81% of the gestational sac is expelled within 4 hours after taking the medicine, and 18.9% of the gestational sac is expelled within 6 hours. There is no obvious relationship between the time of gestational sac expulsion and the number of days of pregnancy. If the gestational sac is not expelled, you should seek medical attention.

Generally speaking, the fetal sac should be expelled within 6 hours after taking misoprostol tablets. If not, a uterine curettage is required. An ultrasound examination is required after medical abortion to rule out the possibility of residual fetus in the uterus.

Medical abortion is suitable for pregnancy within 49 days. If the pregnancy does not exceed 49 days and color ultrasound examination can confirm intrauterine pregnancy, medical abortion pills can be taken. After taking medical abortion pills, there will generally be symptoms of vaginal bleeding that last for about a week, which will be more than normal menstrual flow. After medical abortion, you also need to pay as much attention to rest as possible, avoid catching cold, and avoid eating raw, cold, and irritating foods.

Note:

If the gestational sac has not been discharged for more than 6 hours, you can use oxytocin to promote uterine contraction to discharge the gestational sac, and use antibiotics to prevent infection. If your vaginal bleeding is not much, you can observe. However, based on your previous medical history of taking abortion drugs and having a curettage, the possibility of failure is relatively high, so it is better to have a curettage. Generally, curettage is not performed on Saturdays if it is not an emergency. You can observe on Friday. If the gestational sac has not been discharged, you can have a curettage. The use of oxytocin or taking misoprostol tablets may expel the gestational sac, but I personally think it is safer to directly clear the uterus. If the stool cannot be discharged in time after taking the medicine, uterine cleaning is still required.

Go to the hospital for a follow-up examination 15 days after the medical abortion. If necessary, perform B-ultrasound examination and urine pregnancy test to determine the effectiveness of the abortion. If the abortion does not occur within 1 week after taking the medicine, or the vaginal bleeding increases significantly after about 10 days, or the bleeding continues for more than 3 weeks to 1 month, you should go to the hospital for a follow-up examination in time. For those with failed or incomplete abortion, artificial abortion or curettage are required.
