What to do if your breast ducts become inflamed

Inflammation of the mammary ducts, also known as mastitis, is a disease that occurs frequently in breastfeeding women. Best treatment for mastitis during lactation

1. Local physical therapy and hot compress can be used to promote the patency of breast. Local physical therapy and hot compress are particularly effective for early inflammation. This method can promote the smooth discharge of milk. If the local swelling is obvious, 25% magnesium sulfate hot compress can be used. At the same time, the patient should massage along the base of the breast to the nipple for 8 to 10 minutes every 3 to 4 hours, and try to squeeze out the milk or use a breast pump to express it.

2. Conventional antibiotics and traditional Chinese medicine treatment. In the clinical treatment of lactation mastitis, traditional Chinese medicine is the most effective and can cure it completely, so female friends can consider it more. When these methods are ineffective, mothers can undergo penicillin or other antibiotic treatment under the guidance of a doctor.

Folk remedies for treating mastitis during lactation

1. 50g fresh cactus (without thorns), 10g alum. Mash the above medicines together and apply to the affected area, changing it after it dries.

2. 15g each of Trichosanthes kirilowii and Luffa loofah, 60g of dandelion. Decoction in water. Take 1 dose per day, divided into morning and evening.

3. 60g leeks and 2 eggs. Fry leeks and eggs in a pan until half cooked, wrap them in a cloth and apply to the affected armpit, squeezing it tightly.

4. 60g dried tangerine peel and 8g licorice. Fry in a casserole. Take 1 dose per day, morning and evening.

5. 10g each of Dipsacus asper, Rhizoma Cynoglossi and Eucommia ulmoides. Decoction in water. Take 1 dose per day, 1 course of treatment for 7 days. Pregnant women should remove Achyranthes bidentata and add 15g of Viscum album.

6. 3g each of processed Chuanwu, ephedra, and licorice, 9g each of white peony root, astragalus, cinnamon twig, Millettia reticulata, and frankincense. Decoction in water. Take 1 dose per day, morning and evening.

7. 60g dandelion, 30g honeysuckle, and 50 to 100g polished rice. First, fry dandelion and honeysuckle, remove the residue and take the juice, then add rice to cook porridge. Take as you like.

Medicines for treating mastitis during lactation

1. Systemic application of antibiotics. To prevent and treat severe infection and sepsis, antibiotics are selected based on bacterial culture and drug sensitivity, and intravenous antibiotics are given when necessary.

2. Traditional Chinese medicine: Traditional Chinese medicine mainly focuses on clearing away heat and detoxifying in the treatment of mastitis during lactation.

3. Patients with mastitis during lactation should use 25% magnesium sulfate hot compress and physical therapy locally.

4. In the early stage of mastitis during lactation, 800,000 to 1,000,000 U of penicillin plus 10 ml of 1% to 2% procaine can be dissolved in 10 to 20 ml of isotonic saline and injected around the lump.
