Can I smoke while breastfeeding?

As people's minds gradually open up, many female friends have started to come into contact with cigarettes and learned to smoke. However, smoking is still bad for health and should not be encouraged. So can I smoke while breastfeeding? The answer is of course no. Women are not allowed to smoke during pregnancy and breastfeeding because smoking will affect the health of the baby. I believe that as long as a mother is responsible, she will not be unable to control her smoking addiction during this stage.

When talking about someone smoking, many people's first reaction is that this person is a man. But now more and more women are starting to smoke. Smoking is harmful to health and causes the same harm to men and women. However, women have a special period. Smoking during this special period will not only harm themselves, but also affect the baby. This period is pregnancy and breastfeeding. During pregnancy, the baby is still in the mother's belly, so mothers will control themselves to quit smoking at this time. After delivery, many mothers think that as long as they don't smoke in the baby's room, the baby will not be exposed to secondhand smoke, so mothers can start smoking at this time. This idea is totally wrong. Even if you don't smoke in front of your baby during breastfeeding, it will still affect your baby's health.

When a mother smokes, her lactation secretion will be reduced, which will affect the quality of the milk. The baby has a poor lactation reflex and insufficient milk production, so he or she will not get enough milk and will have to be weaned early. Sudden weaning is extremely detrimental to the baby's psychological development. When a mother smokes, the nicotine in the smoke is inhaled into the mother's lungs and then enters the breast milk. The nicotine content in the breast milk of the smoking mother will be higher than that of the non-smoking mother, reducing the quality of the breast milk. This will affect the baby's health, which means that the baby may not only inhale toxic gases, but also "drink poison." Nicotine enters the baby's body through breast milk and can cause the baby to often have "abdominal colic", affecting the baby's normal growth.

If the baby inhales the gas emitted by the mother's smoking for a long time, the baby's brain will lack oxygen, thereby interfering with the development of the brain's respiratory center. If the baby's brain is deprived of oxygen for a long time, the body will supplement by producing "diphosphoglycerate" to improve oxygen delivery. Such a growth environment is definitely abnormal. How can a baby who grows up in an abnormal environment be healthy? His body will be attacked by respiratory diseases such as pneumonia, asthma, sinusitis, etc.
