Emergency measures for ear inflammation in pregnant women

Many women will experience some symptoms during pregnancy. As the fetus grows larger, it compresses various parts of the nerves. When a pregnant woman has ear inflammation, the first thing to consider is otitis media. Since expectant mothers cannot take medication casually during pregnancy, if the condition is mild, you can first apply the drug locally with a sterilized cotton swab, and clean the ear canal 4-6 times a day. Pregnant women should also pay attention to letting the water in the ear flow out after taking a bath, and use a cotton swab to absorb the moisture, and keep the nasal cavity unobstructed.

Pregnant women ear inflammation method

1. Actively treat focal diseases of the upper respiratory tract, such as chronic sinusitis and chronic tonsillitis.

2. Drug treatment: It is a common treatment method for otitis media. It is characterized by simple type with main local medication: antibiotic aqueous solution or a mixture of antibiotics and steroid hormones can be used, such as 0.25% chloramphenicol solution, chloramphenicol cortisone solution, ofloxacin ear drops, etc.

3. Precautions for topical medication:

① Before using the medicine, clean the pus in the external auditory canal and middle ear cavity. You can use 3% hydrogen peroxide or boric acid water for cleaning, then wipe it clean with a cotton swab or use an aspirator to suck out the pus before dripping the medicine.

② When the amount of pus is large, use water; when the amount is small, use boric acid alcohol.

4. Ear drop method: The patient sits or lies down with the affected ear facing upwards. Gently pull the auricle backward and upward, and drip 3 to 4 drops of medicine into the external auditory canal. Then press the tragus lightly with your fingers several times to encourage the medicine to flow into the middle ear through the perforation of the eardrum. You can change your position after a few minutes. Note that the ear drops should be as close to body temperature as possible to avoid causing dizziness.

5. Large perforation of the eardrum affects hearing. The patient can undergo tympanoplasty or tympanoplasty about 2 months after the ear is dry.

6. For bone ulcer type otitis media with unobstructed drainage, local medication is the main treatment, but regular check-ups should be noted. Patients with poor drainage or suspected complications, as well as cholesteatoma otitis media, should undergo modified radical mastoidectomy or radical mastoidectomy as soon as possible to completely remove the lesions and prevent complications.

Precautions for ear infections during pregnancy

(1) Actively treat nasopharyngeal diseases to prevent bacteria from entering the middle ear and causing inflammation.

(2) Do not blow your nose forcefully or rinse your nasal cavity casually. Do not close both nostrils at the same time. Blow your nose crosswise.

(3) When removing earwax from the bottom, be very careful and moisten it before removing to avoid damaging the eardrum.

(4) After bathing or swimming, let the water in the ears drain out. It is best to use a cotton swab to absorb the moisture.

(5) During the acute phase, take rest and keep the nasal cavity open.
