What are the initial symptoms of scabies in women?

Scabies infection is a relatively common disease and also a very dangerous disease. It can cause great harm to people's healthy lives. It is not only very painful but also highly contagious. Therefore, preventing scabies is a very important matter in life. The symptoms of scabies in women are more serious than in men. Let's take a look at the initial symptoms of scabies in women.

Generally, female scabies patients have more serious illnesses than male patients. This is because the female reproductive organs are relatively internal, and once the virus invades, it will breed for a long time and is not easy to be detected. In addition, the disease often occurs near the clitoris, vagina, and labia, so it is extremely difficult to detect. Clinically, at least 20% of female patients have the perineum and perianal skin easily affected, and occasionally occur in the armpits, groin, submammary space and mouth.

Most patients have symptoms such as vulvar itching and increased leucorrhea. The lesions appear papillary, cockscomb-shaped or fused into cauliflower-like shapes, with varying sizes, and some are fused into sheets or appear plaque-like. Women can usually detect vulvar or perianal lesions through self-examination, but HPV infections in the vagina and cervix are more hidden and difficult to detect.

Cervical scabies is not easy to detect even with the naked eye under a dilator, and can only be detected with a colposcopy. HPV is not only the causative factor of scabies, but also closely related to cervical cancer. Biopsy of suspicious lesions under colposcopy can not only detect scabies, but also has important significance for the early diagnosis of cervical precancerous lesions and cervical cancer.

What are the ways to prevent scabies?

90% of the viruses that cause scabies are simplex scabies virus type II, and sexual transmission is the main route of transmission. After contracting the disease, scabies is prone to recurring because there is no effective cure. It may also induce cancer, cause fetal malformations, and harm a person's physical and mental health. Everyone must take the following precautionary measures:

(1) Pay attention to hygiene, wash the vulva and change underwear every day; do not use other people’s basins or swimsuits; and wash your hands before going to the toilet.

(2) Avoid sexual promiscuity and keep yourself clean, which can reduce the chance of infection to a great extent.

(3) It is recommended to take showers instead of using basins. Do not sit directly on the seats in public baths after bathing; try to use squat toilets in public restrooms.
