The kidneys are important organs in the human body. If there is a problem with the kidneys, it will not only cause pain or discomfort, but will also affect many normal functions of the human body and thus affect a person's normal life. Mild pain in the left kidney is a very common phenomenon in women. The main causes of this symptom include: infection, kidney stones, kidney cysts, tumors and Staphylococcus aureus. The reasons will be explained in detail below! 1. Infection The pain caused by the infection is persistent and may be accompanied by fever, chills, etc. For example, acute pyelonephritis, renal abscess, etc. Once the diagnosis is confirmed, in addition to the active use of antibiotics, active drainage is also required. If the drainage is not smooth, the pus will cause serious damage to the kidneys, and the kidney will need to be removed if necessary. 2. Kidney stones Kidney stones themselves rarely cause pain, but if the stones cause water accumulation in the kidneys, it can cause kidney distension or dull pain. If the stone falls into the ureter, it will cause renal colic. When renal colic occurs, the pain is very severe and you need to use medication in time to relieve spasms and pain. If the stone is large and causes complete ureteral obstruction leading to severe hydroureteral accumulation, timely surgical stone removal is required. 3. Renal Cyst Kidney cysts or polycystic kidneys can also cause kidney pain. The gradual enlargement of the cyst will compress and destroy the renal cortex, leading to decreased renal function. Severe polycystic ovary syndrome can even lead to renal failure. Most cases can be clearly diagnosed through color Doppler ultrasound examination. If the simple cyst is smaller than 3.5 cm and the pain in the kidney area is not very obvious, no special treatment is required for the time being and regular color Doppler ultrasound examinations are sufficient. If the cyst is relatively large and there is obvious pain in the kidney area, surgical treatment is recommended as soon as possible to reduce the pressure of the cyst on the kidney and protect kidney function. Tumors Kidney tumors can also cause pain in the kidney area. Late-stage kidney tumors may even be accompanied by hematuria. If the kidney tumor is so large, a mass may even be felt in the abdomen. CT and MRI examinations can often make a preliminary diagnosis. Once a kidney tumor is diagnosed, surgical treatment is required promptly. 5. Staphylococcus aureus The most common pathogen causing kidney pain is Staphylococcus aureus. The bacteria can enter the kidneys through the blood from purulent lesions in other parts of the body, such as boils, sores, abscesses, infected wounds, upper respiratory tract infections, and infections of tissues adjacent to the kidneys. In the early stage, the lesions are limited to the renal cortex to form multiple tiny abscesses, which may then aggregate into multi-chamber abscesses. In some patients, small abscesses may merge into large abscesses and become renal pain. In a few patients, in the late stage, the renal pain near the cortex may break through the capsule and develop into perinephric abscesses. The abscesses near the renal calyx may perforate and drain into the renal pelvis, and bacteria may be found in the urine. |
