Singing skills for girls during voice change period

Voice change is a life change that everyone will experience. During this period, symptoms such as hoarseness and inability to sing may occur. Girls who are currently in the voice change period may have this confusion: I am now in the voice change stage, is it suitable for me to learn singing? And what kind of singing techniques can I use during the voice change period? Next, we will answer the questions of these girls.

Let me make my point clear first. The voice change period is actually not suitable for learning singing. If you really want to sing and learn vocal music, you can first practice some breath training and sing some mid-bass songs. Why? Let’s analyze it in detail below.

First of all, what is the voice change period? The physiological change from a child's voice to an adult's voice is called "physiological voice change". In medicine, the time period experienced by physiological voice change is called the "voice change period".

Most children's voice changes around the age of 15. Girls usually enter the voice change period one year earlier than boys. The voice change period lasts an average of one year, with a short duration of three to six months and a long duration of two to three years. In addition, the length of the voice change period is also related to the individual and geography. Children in the south have a shorter voice change period, while children in the north have a longer voice change period.

How can you tell if you are in the voice change period? First, look at the age, second, look at the gender (boys are mostly between 12 and 14 years old, girls mostly start at 12 years old), and third, look at the voice, which is the key one. If a child is at the age of voice change, his voice is hoarse when speaking, his voice cannot go up when singing, and a check of the vocal cords reveals congestion, this means that the child has entered the voice change period.

The voice change period can be roughly divided into three stages: the voice does not change much in the early stage, and the voice is still a child's voice when speaking and singing, but sometimes you may feel that you have lost control of your voice, your voice becomes uncontrollable, it is difficult to produce high notes, the voice cannot be sustained, and sometimes you sing out of tune or produce strange sounds; in the middle stage, the voice changes more obviously, and the speaking tone becomes lower and rougher. Although the voice still has a childish voice, the child's voice component is getting less and less, and the adult voice component is gradually increasing; in the late stage, the voice has completely become an adult's voice, but there is still a period of time when the voice is unstable and difficult to control.

During this period, we must protect our throats, pay more attention to rest and personal hygiene. The voice change period is a critical period for children's voice development. Generally speaking, how a child's voice develops during this period determines the quality of his or her voice throughout his or her life. The voice change period is not suitable for learning vocal music, because long-term vocal practice or some high-pitched singing will damage the vocal cords. It is not appropriate to argue loudly, shout, or sing loudly in daily life. What if you just want to learn vocal music during this period of time? Well, during this period of time you can do some training on your musical sense, hearing and breath. As for singing, you can sing some songs with medium and low pitches, because these have relatively small impact on the vocal cords. You can practice for a short period of time every day, but long-term practice is not recommended.
