Why is there less milk after breastfeeding than before breastfeeding?

Fashionably, many women after childbirth have problems with blocked mammary ducts and low milk supply, so they will take some lactation methods to increase milk supply. However, some people will find that their milk supply is even less after the method than before. In fact, this phenomenon is more related to whether the method is correct. If the method is right, this phenomenon is relatively rare. Therefore, when unblocking the mammary ducts, we must also pay attention to choosing the correct method.

1. It is estimated that 25% of breastfeeding women have experienced mastitis. When breasts are swollen, it is not necessary to seek help from a lactation consultant. Baby sucking is the best way. Regarding the lumps caused by breast engorgement, Director Xu reminds everyone not to be overly nervous. If it is mild, you can handle it yourself. First, let the baby suck more. If necessary, adjust the baby's position when sucking milk. It is best to let the baby's chin touch the position of the lump, so the baby is the best lactation consultant. Then, gently massage the lump and slowly push it towards the nipple. To avoid friction and damage to the skin, you can apply some moisturizing oil. If the blockage still cannot be cleared, it is recommended to go to the hospital and seek professional help.

2. Taking antipyretics and antibiotics will basically have no effect on the baby. Because fever caused by mastitis is common among breastfeeding mothers, many mothers worry that taking antipyretics and antibiotics will affect their baby's breast milk. Some mothers even stop breastfeeding or feed their babies formula after taking the medicine. In fact, this worry is unnecessary. Xu Mengyan told reporters that after taking the medicine, the mother's body can basically metabolize it within a few hours, and it will not affect the baby when breastfeeding.

3. The nipples do not need to be cleaned and disinfected every time. Xu Mengyan once met a breastfeeding mother who felt pain every time she breastfed because she washed her nipples too cleanly. In fact, there are normal bacteria attached to the mother's nipples and breast milk. For example, breast milk contains more than 700 kinds of microorganisms. They can run into the baby's intestines through breastfeeding, help customize the intestinal flora, form an intestinal protective film, and reduce the occurrence of diarrhea in infants and young children.
