How to avoid episiotomy scars

How to avoid episiotomy scars

Some women need episiotomy during childbirth because the birth canal is relatively small. This will naturally leave scars on the genitals. Many women want to know how to avoid this. In fact, to avoid this, we can perform some perineal contraction exercises 32 weeks before pregnancy. This will make the perineal muscles more flexible and elastic, avoiding the situation where childbirth is difficult and requires episiotomy.

Will episiotomy leave scars?

An episiotomy will leave a scar. Episiotomy will leave scars, especially for women with scar-prone constitutions. For women without scar-prone constitutions, most people recover well, but they will still leave scars, but they are not obvious. Episiotomy scars cannot be completely removed. If they are harder than the surrounding skin and locally itchy, they can be treated with local injections. In addition, after an episiotomy, women must keep the perineum dry and pay attention to hygiene. In the past year, it has become prone to inflammation, pain and itching. If this happens, buy potassium permanganate for cleaning.

How to avoid episiotomy

Perineal massage (starting at 32 weeks of pregnancy)

1. First cut the nails of both hands short and then wash them clean.

2. Find a quiet and warm place to sit down, open your legs, take a semi-sitting delivery position, and place the mirror facing the perineum.

3. Take an appropriate amount of massage oil (pure rapeseed oil or water-soluble lubricant) and apply it around the perineum with your fingers.

4. Insert your thumb as far into the vagina as possible, spread your legs, and press the perineum muscle tissue with slight force. Pay attention to keeping the perineum as relaxed as possible until you feel some tingling or burning.

5. When the pain disappears, continue massaging back and forth. When massaging, you can hook your thumb to imitate the scene of fetal delivery, and slowly stretch towards the vaginal opening for about 1 minute.

Note: Be sure to use gentle force, otherwise it will easily cause a tingling sensation and bruise the perineum. Also remember not to press the urethra hard to prevent infection and inflammation.

If the mother has a scar-prone constitution and is prone to scars, she should develop the habit of eating kelp. Kelp can help improve her constitution, so she should persist in eating it for a long time without interruption. Usually, you should pay attention to prevent trauma, burns, scalds, ear piercing, eyebrow tattooing, etc. to avoid damaging the dermis. Scars are symptoms left behind when physical, biological, chemical and other factors damage the skin and soft tissues of the human body, causing them to be severely damaged and unable to completely repair themselves, and the fibrous tissue takes over to repair them. Once a scar appears, it is difficult to remove. You can apply vitamin E to improve some of it.
