Cervical mucus is a kind of protective mucus secreted by the female body. It can effectively block the invasion of many foreign bacteria, thereby protecting the health of the fetus in the pregnant woman. When a pregnant woman is about to give birth, the cervical mucus will also undergo some changes. Therefore, based on the changes in cervical mucus, the specific time of delivery can also be determined. How long after the appearance of cervical mucus will the baby be born? 1. If your cervix begins to dilate as labor approaches, you may pass your mucus plug — a small amount of thick mucus that has sealed your cervical canal for the past 9 months. The plug may come out all at once in one piece, or it may come out as increased vaginal discharge over several days. This mucus may be tinged with blood (it may be brown, pink, or red), hence the term "bloody show." Spotting, like increased uterine contractions, is a sign of labor that is easier to identify. 2. During sexual intercourse or vaginal examination, it is also possible that the mucus plug is disturbed, causing you to see bloody discharge. Even if you are not going to give birth for a few days, in either case, if you only see a few spots of blood, you should go to the hospital for treatment, because this may be a sign of a problem. Of course, some doctors will also suggest that if no other symptoms occur at the same time, it is not necessary to go to the hospital for treatment. What is the difference between cervical mucus and leucorrhea 1. Cervical mucus is one of the main components of leucorrhea. It mainly appears around the cervical opening. Its main components are glycoprotein, plasma protein, sodium chloride and water hydrogel. 2. Leucorrhea is a vaginal discharge that is a mixture of vaginal mucosal exudate, cervical glands and endometrial gland secretions. It contains desquamated cells of the vaginal epithelium, white blood cells and some non-pathogenic bacteria. 3. Stringy leucorrhea is a special condition of leucorrhea formed by increased moisture and toughness of cervical mucus. Women's secretions will increase during ovulation, and the leucorrhea will appear transparent and stringy. The leucorrhea can be stretched very long and not easy to break. It is clear, transparent, elastic, and egg white-like. The cervix is the only way for sperm to enter the uterus, and cervical mucus is the guard of the uterus, strictly guarding the uterus at the cervical opening. During the non-ovulation period, the cervical mucus becomes very viscous, making it difficult for sperm to pass through. However, during the ovulation period, the cervical mucus becomes very thin and contains a lot of water, which is conducive to the entry of sperm. Because cervical mucus contains a lot of water and is very tough, stringy leucorrhea will flow out, which can sometimes be very long. This is what we often call "stringy leucorrhea". |
