If there is a fishy smell during menstruation, it is a disease

When the human physiological system is healthy, there will be no other odor during each menstruation. As long as you pay attention to cleaning after entering and do not leave sanitary napkins unchanged for a long time, the odor during the menstrual period will disappear. However, many women cannot change their menstrual cycle even if they pay attention to their personal hygiene, and they still have odor and fishy smell. In this case, it may be caused by gynecological diseases, and you should observe whether there are any other symptoms before and after menstruation.

1) Increased leucorrhea is the main symptom of this disease. Leucorrhea is generally yellow-white, milky white or gray-yellow, occasionally purulent yellow-green, often accompanied by foam, thin texture, fishy smell, and may be mixed with blood if the lesion is severe.

2) Examination revealed that the vaginal and cervical mucosa were congested, inflamed, swollen, and bright red, with pseudomembranous spots, hemorrhagic spots, and strawberry-shaped protrusions. A large amount of purulent foamy secretions were visible in the posterior fornix.

3) The secretions spread to the vulva through the vaginal opening, irritating the vulva and causing Trichomonas vulvitis, which is manifested by itching and burning sensation of the vulva and vaginal opening. Sometimes the irritation is unbearable and there is even pain in the vaginal opening. Patients often scratch their vulva, which causes secondary eczematous changes with local erosions, exudation, scabs and scratches.

4) Often accompanied by lower abdominal pain and pain during sexual intercourse.

5) If Trichomonas vaginalis parasitizes in the female urethra or bladder, frequent urination, urgency, pain and hematuria may occur.

6) A small number of people who have Trichomonas in the vagina and have symptoms are called carriers (accounting for 10%); some patients may become carriers after their symptoms gradually disappear over a period of time. Therefore, vaginal trichomonas screening should be included as a routine in STD outpatient clinics.

7) Trichomonas vaginitis may cause infertility.

[Western medicine treatment] There are many treatments for vaginal trichomoniasis, but it is often difficult to cure it completely. Treatment must be targeted at the physical properties of Trichomonas (including drug resistance) and the body's condition in order to achieve a more ideal effect. Local treatment: Its purpose is to restore the normal physiological state of the vagina and enhance the vagina's defense ability. 1) The acidic vaginal environment can inhibit the reproduction of Trichomonas, so you can use acidic solutions such as 1% lactic acid or 0.5% acetic acid solution for vaginal irrigation once a night; or add glucose powder and sprinkle it into the vagina, and the lactobacilli in the vagina will ferment it to produce lactic acid, thereby restoring the normal acidity in the vagina, inhibiting the reproduction of Trichomonas and stopping the disease. 2) Anti-trichomoniasis drugs: Commonly used ones include arsenic-containing preparations such as trichlorfon, carbachol, etc., or trichomonas suppositories, which are inserted deep into the vagina after vaginal douching every night for 7 to 10 days. It has been reported that better results can be achieved by evenly sprinkling Trichomonas powder (containing 1 gram each of arsenic acetate or carbachol, glucose, and boric acid) into the vagina once a night for 3 days.

Systemic treatment: Because trichomoniasis is often accompanied by urinary tract infection, Trichomonas can invade the cervical glands, so it is difficult to completely cure it with local treatment alone, and systemic trichomoniasis drugs must be used.

1) Highly effective oral trichomonasicide metronidazole: It is a specific medicine for treating this disease, with high efficacy and low toxicity. It can be taken by both men and women, as well as unmarried women. Take 0.2 grams each time, 3 times a day, for a total of 7 days. Pregnant women should not use it. If the man has trichomoniasis, he can also take 0.2 grams of metronidazole orally, 3 times a day, for 7 days.

2) Carbendazim: It is also effective for trichomoniasis. The dosage for adults is 100,000 units, taken once every 12 hours after meals. One course of treatment is 3 days. A small number of patients experienced adverse reactions such as nausea and abdominal discomfort. This drug is particularly suitable for vaginal trichomoniasis combined with vaginal candidiasis.
