What are the symptoms of fungal gynecological diseases

Fungal gynecological diseases are relatively common, and they also cause great impact and harm to patients. Patients usually experience itching of the vulva and vagina, or swelling and redness of the vulva, and even ulceration, burning sensation and other problems. Particularly common is severe fungal vaginitis, which is also accompanied by abnormal and increased leucorrhea. If these diseases are not treated promptly and effectively, they may even cause female infertility. For example, candidal vaginitis can cause invisible harm to the growth and development of the fetus even after pregnancy. Therefore, scientific treatment and prevention of these gynecological diseases are key.

1. The labia minora and vaginal mucosa have varying degrees of congestion

During gynecological examination, depending on the symptoms of severe candidal vaginitis and the severity of the disease, the labia minora and vaginal mucosa may have varying degrees of congestion and edema of the labia minora. There is a lot of sticky leucorrhea in the vagina or the vaginal mucosa is covered with a white film. After wiping off the white film, the exposed mucosa can be seen to be red, swollen, eroded or with superficial ulcers.

2. Itchy vulva and vagina

It manifests as intense itching that affects sleep and work. The symptoms generally range from mild to intolerable. Patients often scratch unconsciously, resulting in swelling, flushing, and even redness, ulceration, and a burning sensation of the vulva. Increased vaginal discharge is another most common symptom of severe candidal vaginitis. Leucorrhea is usually thick and viscous, and can be white, yellow, or light in color. Typical symptoms of severe candidal vaginitis are leucorrhea that is like tofu dregs or curds.

3. Cause infertility

If you suffer from candidal vaginitis, the change in vaginal acidity and alkalinity will inhibit sperm motility, and inflammatory cells can phagocytize sperm and weaken sperm motility. Candida albicans has the effect of agglutinating sperm, and sexual intercourse pain and decreased libido during inflammation can all affect pregnancy. This type of infertility can quickly return to normal after active treatment. However, the infertility caused by candidal vaginitis is temporary and conception is still possible after the disease is cured.

4. Impact on fetal development

After a pregnant woman becomes ill, in a very small number of cases the Candida albicans in the vagina can ascend through the cervix, penetrate the fetal membrane and infect the fetus, causing premature birth. In addition, when the fetus is delivered vaginally by the mother, it may also be infected with Candida albicans, which often causes oral candidiasis. For example, thrush, as it is commonly known, is caused by oral Candida albicans infection. Some infants may also develop perianal candidal dermatitis. It can be seen from this that in order to avoid infecting the fetus, pregnant women with candidal vaginitis should actively seek treatment.
