What is the cause of cervical prolapse?

Among gynecological diseases, the incidence of cervical prolapse is actually quite high, especially for women after childbirth. The causes of cervical prolapse generally include amenorrhea, delivery injury, increased abdominal pressure, etc., which will have a direct impact on cervical prolapse. After cervical prolapse occurs, the patient will feel obvious discomfort in the abdomen, and the cause should be found out in time.

1. Menopause:

It is reported that uterine prolapse occurs in about 2/3 of postmenopausal women. Insufficient estrogen levels after menopause cause hormone-dependent reproductive organs and tissues to begin to atrophy and degenerate, the pelvic muscles to lose elasticity, and the ligaments supporting the uterus to relax, resulting in the entire pelvic floor tissue becoming weak.

2. Birth Injury:

For example, prolonged delivery or difficult labor can easily damage the pelvic floor muscles and ligaments; getting out of bed too early to do housework during the confinement period, or doing heavy lifting too early.

3. Long-term increased abdominal pressure:

Conditions such as chronic cough, habitual constipation, long-term heavy labor, regular and inappropriate exercise, and tumors in the abdominal cavity can all cause increased abdominal pressure and cause the uterus to move downward.

4. Pelvic floor tissue dysplasia:

Some women have congenital uterine or pelvic floor muscle hypoplasia, which can also cause the uterus to prolapse prematurely.
