What causes pain in the right lower abdomen during ovulation?

Ovulation pain The rupture of the ovarian follicle mainly causes lower abdominal pain, which is a signal that the egg is being discharged from the ovary. Some women experience lower abdominal pain in the middle of each menstrual cycle, and this pain is usually called ovulation pain. Although ovulation pain is a physiological reaction, when the pain is obvious it will affect women's normal work and study.

Ovulation pain is more common in adolescent women. Most women do not feel ovulation in their ovaries. A few people experience abdominal pain, which is generally not severe and disappears after 1-2 days. However, for some patients with severe abdominal pain, the pain may last for 1-2 weeks. Pre-ovulation pain mostly occurs on one side of the abdomen, often when the pressure in the follicles increases. Post-ovulation pain is mostly due to the contraction of the uterus and fallopian tubes during ovulation or the stimulation of pelvic organs by bleeding during ovulation. Abdominal pain occurs before and after the basal body temperature rises.

Generally, ovulation pain is transient and mild, often lasting for several hours, and sometimes lasting for 1-2 days, so no treatment is required. In very rare cases, ovulation pain is more severe than usual. As long as other causes of abdominal pain can be ruled out, you can take the painkiller atropine 0.5 mg orally 1-2 times a day. This drug has the side effect of dry mouth. If the pain is particularly severe, ovulation should be suppressed, and sequential therapy can be used. If you start taking diluted estradiol on the 5th day of the menstrual cycle and add progesterone on the 16th day, the effect will be better. You can also take oral contraceptive pill No. 1 or No. 2, starting on the 5th day of menstruation each month, taking it for 22 consecutive days, and maintaining 3-6 cycles.

Women who experience abdominal pain during ovulation must pay attention. If it is long-term, it may be normal to have it for a long time. If the pain occurs in addition to the ovulation period, timely treatment must be sought. Female diseases have serious effects on fertility, so they cannot be ignored.
