How long does it take for menstruation to come normally after giving birth?

As for the recovery of menstruation after childbirth, the time is actually different for everyone, because the recovery of menstruation is directly related to the recovery of the body. Generally, friends who give birth naturally will resume normal menstruation after six weeks, but some friends who give birth do not have good nutritional conditioning, which may cause delayed menstruation.

1. The time of menstruation after normal delivery is not fixed: There is no fixed timetable for the question of how long it will take for menstruation to come after normal delivery. If it is early, menstruation will come after the baby is one month old, and if it is late, it may take a year. Generally speaking, after giving birth naturally, if the mother is in good physical condition, recovers well after delivery, and breastfeeds for a short time, her menstruation will resume early; if the mother's physical condition is not good, her postpartum recovery is not ideal, and breastfeeding time is long, her menstruation will resume later.

The earliest women to resume menstruation after a normal birth are those whose baby is just one month old. However, some women who do not recover well after childbirth or have poor physical fitness may take as long as more than a year to gradually resume menstruation.

2. Recovery of ovarian function after normal delivery: Compared with most women who give birth naturally, the ovarian function of the mother has basically recovered about 5-6 weeks after the birth, and the presence of the corpus luteum can be clearly observed after ovulation.

For mothers who give birth naturally and do not breastfeed, nearly 50% of them will resume normal ovulation 40-50 days after the baby is born. In other words, more than 65% of these mothers who give birth naturally will resume normal menstruation within 6-8 weeks after the birth, and only nearly 20% of mothers who give birth naturally and do not breastfeed have not resumed normal ovulation and menstruation 2-3 months after the baby is born. However, some mothers who have given birth naturally and have been breastfeeding have resumed normal ovulation and normal menstruation about 12-14 weeks after the birth. Among them, nearly 80% of breastfeeding mothers have to wait until about 16-18 weeks after the baby is born to resume normal ovulation and menstruation.

3. Changes in menstrual volume: There is no accurate timetable for how long it will take for menstruation to come after a normal delivery. Women who have given birth naturally do not need to worry about the delayed menstruation. Generally, there will not be any serious problems. In most cases, the first menstrual flow of a mother who gives birth naturally will be heavier than the previous menstrual flow before pregnancy. It will generally return to normal by the second month. Mothers do not need to panic too much. If they find any discomfort, they should go to the hospital for examination and treatment in time.
