Pay attention to these signs of gestational sac twins after pregnancy

Many couples who are preparing for pregnancy hope that their baby can be both a boy and a girl. If they have the financial means, having twins is a great blessing. Two children can bring more joy to the family. After becoming pregnant with twins, there are usually some signs, especially the pregnant woman will have obvious perception during pregnancy.

1. Symptoms of twin pregnancy

1. The abdomen is larger than normal for a twin pregnancy

One of the early signs of a twin pregnancy is a more pronounced belly. In the early stages of a twin pregnancy, the abdomen is more enlarged and grows more rapidly than that of a single pregnancy, and may exceed the normal size for that month of pregnancy. Especially after 24 weeks of pregnancy. However, some people say that the size of the uterus can also be considered when determining the possibility of multiple births. If your uterus is growing too fast for your due date, you may be pregnant with multiples. However, other factors that could explain a uterus that is too large for the due date include an incorrect due date, polyhydramnios, or uterine fibroids.

2. Early pregnancy is more serious

After becoming pregnant, women may experience early pregnancy reactions such as dizziness, fatigue, drowsiness, chills, and loss of appetite. If the baby is pregnant with twins, these reactions will be more intense. For example, some may experience varying degrees of nausea, picky eating, and frequent vomiting. In the late stages of pregnancy, it is easy to experience symptoms of compression such as palpitations, shortness of breath, lower limb edema and varicose veins. If expectant mothers experience the above symptoms such as dizziness and fatigue, further examinations can be carried out, as it may be twins.

3. Progesterone and hcg values are high

Pregnant women carrying twins usually have higher progesterone and hCG levels in the early stages of pregnancy than pregnant women carrying one baby. For example, at 7 weeks of pregnancy: the normal value of progesterone is 52.7-100.1nmol/l, and it may be higher if it is twins. Of course, mothers cannot intuitively feel this index in life, but can only see it in the examination results of the hospital.

4. More than one heartbeat

As the pregnancy time increases, if it is twin pregnancy symptoms, you can feel two fetal heads and two fetal buttocks and hear two fetal heart sounds. Ultrasound examination can also measure two fetal heart waves of different speeds, and X-ray examination can show the bones of the two fetuses.

2. Can B-ultrasound show that you are pregnant with twins?

Sometimes it is not possible to determine whether you are pregnant with identical twins through ultrasound examination alone, so you may have to wait until the babies are born to find out.

Non-identical twins, or dizygotic twins, develop from two different eggs, and each developing baby has its own amniotic sac and placenta. Identical twins, or monozygotic twins, are much rarer and occur when two babies develop from the same egg (which splits after it is fertilized). Identical twins may share an amniotic sac and placenta, or they may develop their own amniotic sac and placenta, depending on the stage at which the fertilized egg splits.

If your twins share a placenta, they are definitely identical twins. A chorionic villus scan is used to determine whether twins share a placenta or have separate placentas. However, even if the sonographer detects two gestational sacs, this does not necessarily mean that your twins are non-identical twins, as identical twins can also each have a gestational sac. In fact, about one-third of dichorionic/diamniotic twins (meaning each baby has its own placenta and amniotic sac) are identical twins.
