What are the treatments for endometrial cancer?

Endometrial cancer has many harmful complications, so if you find yourself suffering from this disease, you must actively seek treatment. Common treatments include surgery, combined surgery and radiation therapy, radiation therapy, hormone therapy, anti-estrogen drug therapy, anti-cancer chemotherapy, etc. Patients can choose one of the treatments according to their actual situation.

1. Surgical treatment: the preferred method. Patients in stage I should undergo extrafascial hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, while patients in stage II should undergo extensive hysterectomy and pelvic lymph node dissection.

2. Combined surgery and radiation therapy: If cancer cells are found in the ascites of stage I patients or cancer infiltration in the muscularis lamina is present, and there is lymph node metastasis, external beam irradiation is added after surgery. For stage II or some stage III patients, external beam radiation or intracavitary radiation therapy is added before radiotherapy, and surgery is performed 1 to 2 weeks after the end of radiotherapy.

3. Radiotherapy: The elderly, frail patients, patients with severe medical complications who cannot tolerate surgery, and patients in stage III or above who are not suitable for surgery can receive radiotherapy, including intracavitary and external irradiation.

4. Hormone therapy: Young early-stage patients who wish to preserve their fertility, patients with advanced cancer who cannot undergo surgery or patients with cancer recurrence can be treated with large doses of synthetic progestins. Such as medroxyprogesterone acetate 400 mg, intramuscular injection, 2 to 3 times a week; progesterone acetate 500 mg, intramuscular injection, 2 to 3 times a week, etc. The efficacy of the treatment can only be evaluated after at least 12 weeks.

5. Anti-estrogen drugs: Tamoxifen. The indications are the same as those for progestin therapy. The general dose is 20-40 mg/d, taken orally. It can be used for a long time or in divided courses.

6. Anti-cancer chemotherapy: For advanced cases that cannot be treated with surgery or radiotherapy, or for cases that relapse after treatment, combined chemotherapy such as 5-fluorouracil (5-Fu), cyclophosphamide (CTX), mitomycin (MMC), doxorubicin (BDR), and cisplatin (DDP) can be used, which has a certain effect.

7. Anti-cancer Chinese medicine treatment: It can be used as one of the comprehensive treatment measures and is suitable for patients who are not suitable for surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy or who have recurrence after surgery.
