What is the Chinese medicine enema method for pelvic inflammatory disease?

Pelvic inflammatory disease is a common gynecological disease. It is a chronic inflammation caused by bacterial infection in the female pelvis. Most pelvic inflammatory diseases are caused by ascending infection from vaginitis. Many married women suffer from chronic vaginitis, which is difficult to cure and prone to recurrence. If not treated in time, vaginitis can spread and lead to cervicitis, pelvic inflammatory disease, and adnexitis. One method of treating pelvic inflammatory disease is Chinese medicine enema. Let’s take a look at the detailed introduction.

Traditional Chinese medicine retention enema has been used in clinical practice for many years. It is a relatively good route of administration. It is mainly absorbed through the intestinal wall. It can be rapidly absorbed by utilizing the permeability of the semipermeable membrane of the intestinal wall, causing a systemic therapeutic effect, especially on nearby organs, such as the pelvic cavity and abdominal cavity. Moreover, it can be performed by a nurse during hospitalization or by the patient at home after discharge.

Preparation before operation:

① Boil 100ml of Chinese medicine for later use ② A disposable infusion set and a little paraffin oil or lubricating oil ③ Empty your bowels and bladder before enema to reduce abdominal pressure and clean the intestines.

How to do it:

Every night before going to bed, after emptying your bowels and bladder, lie on your right side with your buttocks close to the edge of the bed. Follow the intravenous infusion method, connect the infusion set, expel the gas, cut off the needle of the infusion set, apply a small amount of lubricating oil on the end, slowly insert it from the anus to the rectum 10 to 15 cm, and slowly drip the liquid medicine in. The temperature of the medicine solution should be between 39℃ and 41℃, the pressure should be low, and the liquid level should not be more than 30cm away from the anus. After the infusion, try to rest in bed.

Prevention and care:

(1) Eliminate all routes of infection, keep the perineum clean and dry, and wash the vulva with clean water every night. Do not use your hands to wash the vagina, and do not use hot water, soap, etc. to wash the vulva. During pelvic inflammatory disease, the amount of leucorrhea is large and sticky, so you should change your underwear frequently and avoid wearing tight or synthetic underwear.

(2) If there is vaginal bleeding during menstruation, after abortion, or after gynecological surgery such as IUD insertion or removal, sexual intercourse, swimming, tub bathing, or sauna bathing should be avoided. Sanitary napkins should be changed frequently. As this will reduce the body's resistance, pathogenic bacteria can easily enter the body and cause infection.

(3) Patients diagnosed with acute or subacute pelvic inflammatory disease must follow the doctor's instructions and actively cooperate with treatment. The patient must rest in bed or take a semi-recumbent position to facilitate localization of inflammation and discharge of secretions. Patients with chronic pelvic inflammatory disease should not overwork, and should combine work and rest, and exercise in moderation to avoid worsening of symptoms.

(4) Fever patients usually sweat more when the fever subsides. They should keep warm and dry. Change clothes after sweating and avoid air conditioning or direct convection wind.

(5) Pay attention to the amount, quality, color and taste of leucorrhea. If the amount of leucorrhea is large, the color is yellow and thick, and there is a foul odor, it means that the condition is serious. If the leucorrhea changes from yellow to white (or light yellow), the amount decreases from large to small, and the taste tends to be normal (slightly sour), it means that the condition has improved. (6) Patients with acute or subacute pelvic inflammatory disease should keep their bowels open and observe the nature of their stools. If you see pus in your stool or have a feeling of urgency and heaviness in your abdomen, you should go to the hospital immediately to prevent pelvic abscess from rupturing the intestinal wall and causing acute peritonitis.
