Complete list of treatments for uterine fibroids

Uterine fibroids are a very common gynecological disease, which is very harmful to women's health. Once the symptoms are discovered, they should be treated in time. There are many treatment methods, and symptomatic treatment should be carried out. For example, conservative treatment methods are more common, and the most common conservative treatment method is drug treatment. In addition, minimally invasive surgery and surgical treatment are both commonly used treatment methods.

1. Conservative treatment is what we often call drug treatment in our lives. Although drug treatment can play a certain role, for patients with serious conditions, drug treatment can only treat the symptoms and not the root cause, and cannot completely cure uterine fibroids. Since the drug contains hormones, long-term use will not improve the condition, so this method is only suitable for patients with milder conditions.

2. Minimally invasive surgical treatment is mainly laparoscopic treatment. This treatment method makes up for the shortcomings of traditional treatment methods and surgical treatments, and can enable patients to recover their health as soon as possible. At the same time, the risk of surgical treatment is relatively reduced. Because it is a minimally invasive surgery, the wound is very small, which can satisfy women's love of beauty.

3. Surgical treatment is the main treatment for uterine fibroids, because surgical treatment is to remove the fibroids in the uterus, which can enable patients to recover as soon as possible and reduce the harm caused by the disease to their health. However, for patients who generally do not have fertility requirements, surgical treatment can be performed.

4. Interventional treatment: Interventional treatment has appeared in the last century. It mainly involves injecting embolic agents into the uterine artery to embolize the blood vessels of the fibroids, causing ischemia and necrosis inside the fibroids. However, due to the rich blood supply to the uterus, the actual effect is not ideal.

5. Ablation surgery: The principle of ablation surgery is similar to that of a microwave oven. It focuses the energy of ultrasound at a point in the center of the uterine fibroid to ablate the uterine fibroid. Due to the irregular shape of uterine fibroids, ablation surgery can shrink the fibroids slightly, but it is unlikely to completely ablate the uterine fibroids. Since the fibroid capsule is still there, the fibroids will continue to grow.
