What does a retroverted uterus mean? Does it affect conception?

The uterus is the organ that women use to give birth to the next generation. According to the distribution of the female uterus, it can be divided into anterior uterus, median uterus and posterior uterus. Compared with the posterior uterus, the anterior position is the easiest to conceive, followed by the median position, and the posterior position is relatively difficult. Because the anterior uterus is located low, the semen concentration is high, and it is easy for it to pass through the cervix and combine with the egg. The posterior uterus is located higher, and the sperm is easy to flow out, so it is not conducive to conception.

What does retroverted uterus mean? Retroverted uterus means that the longitudinal axis of the uterus remains unchanged, and the entire uterus tilts backwards, which easily causes the cervix to be in an upturned state, that is, retroverted uterus, making it difficult for the cervix to be immersed in the semen pool and may affect conception. How to get pregnant with a retroverted uterus? There are two types of retroverted uterus: congenital and acquired. Except for those with gynecological diseases, most patients with a retroverted uterus can get pregnant smoothly. Only a few patients with more serious conditions need surgical treatment for retroverted uterus.

Does a retroverted uterus affect conception? A retroverted uterus will not have much impact on sexual life, but it may affect the combination of egg and sperm, thereby affecting pregnancy. However, you can adopt a suitable conception posture, preferably the rear entry position, which can increase the chance of conception to a certain extent and promote normal conception.

There are three positions of the uterus in the pelvic cavity, including anterior, median and posterior. Under normal circumstances, the position of the uterus should be anteverted and anteflexed, that is, the uterus is slightly tilted forward, and the cervix is laterally positioned posteriorly and downwards, making the uterus appear anteflexed. Deep in the vagina, there is a dome behind the cervix in the part of the vagina surrounding the cervix. This dome is called the vaginal vault. After ejaculation during sexual intercourse, the vaginal vault is where semen accumulates, which helps the backward and downward cervical opening to be immersed in semen, making it easier for sperm to pass through the cervical opening, enter the uterine cavity, combine with the egg, and then achieve conception. When a woman's uterus is in a posterior position, the position of the cervix changes to forward and upward, so that the opening of the cervix is not easily immersed in semen, thus affecting normal conception.
