How long does it take to recover from a hysterectomy?

After a hysterectomy, women learn to give up the burden psychologically, which is not easy to affect their behavior. After a hysterectomy, because there is less worry about pregnancy and childbirth, women are more relaxed and calm during sex. Therefore, normal sexual life is not easily harmed after hysterectomy. But how long does it take to recover from a hysterectomy?

Patients who have undergone total hysterectomy generally recover in 2-3 months after the operation. In the first month after total hysterectomy, they should rest in bed as much as possible and reduce activity. Long-term activity is not conducive to the healing of the stump. Generally, 14-16 days after the operation, a small amount of light pink secretions will appear in the vagina. This is the hysterectomy stage, which is a normal condition. The vaginal stump usually heals completely 1-2 months after surgery. The healing time varies depending on each person's condition. For example, for patients with diabetes, the healing rate of the vaginal stump is relatively slow, and blood sugar needs to be strictly controlled to prevent poor healing of the stump. Generally, a follow-up visit to the hospital outpatient clinic is required one month after the operation to check the healing status of the vaginal stump. If there is a lot of dark red bleeding in the vagina, you need to see a doctor immediately.

Finally, the risks of hysterectomy surgery should be noted:

1. Bleeding. It is divided into bleeding during surgical treatment and bleeding in the late postoperative period.

2. Damage to the bladder and urethra.

3. Infection. The vagina and cervix are not disinfected and sterilized tightly before surgery, or female secretions overflow into the abdomen during surgery, causing infection.

4. Duodenal damage. Opening the uterine duodenal pouch can easily injure the duodenum during surgical treatment.

5. Adhesion. Intestinal loops may adhere to the wound in the uterus, causing intestinal obstruction.

6. The surgical wound may have lesions, such as various stump cancers.

7. 34% of patients experience varying degrees of uterine and ovarian decline and menopausal symptoms within 2 years after surgery. Patients are prone to side effects such as obesity, hypertension, heart disease, osteoporosis, etc.

8. After the operation, the patient's vaginal volume is reduced, which causes disharmony in sexual life and affects the relationship between the couple.
