What causes enlarged ovaries?

If the ovaries are enlarged, they must be diagnosed in time. It may be caused by ovarian cysts, which is very harmful to your health. There are many reasons for ovarian cysts, which are related to the daily living environment and endocrine disorders. In addition, there is a certain degree of heredity. If ovarian cysts occur, they must be discovered and treated in time to avoid greater harm to your health.

⑴. Environmental factors: The incidence of ovarian cancer is high in industrially developed countries and among upper-class women, which may be related to high cholesterol in the diet. In addition, ionizing radiation, asbestos and talcum powder can affect oocytes and increase the chance of inducing ovarian tumors. Smoking and deficiency of vitamins A, C and E may also be related to the onset of the disease.

⑵. Endocrine factors: Ovarian tumors mostly occur in nulliparous or infertile women. Pregnancy seems to have an antagonistic effect on ovarian tumors. It is believed that the repeated damage to the ovarian surface epithelial cells caused by daily ovulation is related to the occurrence of ovarian tumors. In addition, breast cancer and endometrial cancer are often complicated by ovarian tumors, and all three diseases are dependent on this hormone.

⑶. Genetic and family factors: About 20% to 25% of ovarian tumor patients have tumors among their immediate relatives. Preventive measures: ⑴. Carry out publicity vigorously, advocate a diet high in protein, vitamins A, C, and E, and avoid a diet high in cholesterol. High-risk women should use oral contraceptives for contraception.

Women over 30 years old should have a gynecological examination once a year. High-risk groups should be screened from an early age, and can undergo B-ultrasound tests and routine checks of fetal alpha globulin.

Early detection, early treatment. Ovarian cystic tumors larger than 6 cm in diameter should be surgically removed and sent for pathological examination as usual. Because benign tumors may become malignant if they continue to grow. Regardless of the size, solid ovarian tumors should be treated with surgery as soon as possible, with frozen section examination performed during surgery to determine the extent of the surgery. If the diagnosis of pelvic tumors is unclear or conservative treatment is ineffective, laparoscopy or exploratory laparotomy should be performed as soon as possible. All patients with breast cancer and gastrointestinal cancer should undergo routine gynecological examinations and regular follow-up after surgery to detect metastatic cancer at an early stage.
