How to avoid scar pregnancy with second child

Now that my country's two-child policy is open, many couples want to have a second child. When they go to the hospital for a check-up, the doctor often asks whether the first child was born by caesarean section or natural birth. If it was a natural birth, the second child can be delivered by caesarean section. If the first child was delivered by caesarean section, then you must be alert to scar pregnancy. Scar pregnancy is very harmful to pregnant women and can easily cause heavy vaginal bleeding, or uterine rupture in the late stage.

The so-called scar pregnancy refers to when a woman with a history of cesarean section becomes pregnant again, the embryo happens to implant on the cesarean section scar in the uterus, which is medically called "scar pregnancy." Scar pregnancy often causes heavy vaginal bleeding and late uterine rupture, which is rare but very dangerous.

If your first child was delivered by cesarean section, then when you have your menstrual period 40-50 days after you have had an ultrasound to confirm the pregnancy, you should also focus on confirming whether the gestational sac of this pregnancy is growing on the scar of the first surgery. Although the incidence of pregnancy in uterine scars is very low, once it occurs, it may cause uncontrollable heavy bleeding and even be life-threatening. If the B-ultrasound shows that the gestational sac is in a normal implantation position, there is no need to worry too much.

In addition, during the development of the fetus, you may experience dull abdominal pain. If it can be relieved by resting or changing body position, and the fetal movement and heart rate are normal, don't worry too much. If you have persistent lower abdominal pain and the pain is in a fixed location, you should be alert to the possibility of rupture of the previous uterine scar and go to the hospital immediately for treatment.

Therefore, we still recommend that female friends must carefully choose the first delivery method and try to have a natural birth if there is no indication for a caesarean section.

If the first child was delivered by cesarean section, when choosing between natural birth or cesarean section for the second child, we must first understand the reasons why the mother chose cesarean section for the first child. At the same time, we need to look at the mother's condition, including the condition of the previous incision, the thickness of the uterus, and the size of the fetus, and make a comprehensive assessment. There is a great risk in choosing a second natural birth after the first caesarean section, because there is a wound on the mother's uterus, and there is a risk of the wound splitting during contractions, which is very dangerous if it happens.

Cesarean scar pregnancy can usually be detected through B-ultrasound. Pregnant women with a history of cesarean section must have a check-up before pregnancy to see how the scar is recovering, and an ultrasound examination must be done at 6-7 weeks of pregnancy to check the position of the gestational sac. If you experience abdominal pain and bleeding symptoms similar to threatened abortion or fetal arrest in early pregnancy, these may be early symptoms of scar pregnancy.

Once a scar pregnancy is discovered, induced abortion must be performed immediately. Because the embryo growing in the "gap" will continue to grow, the longer the time, the greater the chance of uterine rupture. If the embryo penetrates deep into the uterine scar, the uterus can only be cut open to take out the embryo.
